Installing a new set of Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tires on my 09 XB12X today. I'm at 27k miles. This is my 5th set of Tyres... 1. OEM Scorpion Trail -- on the bike when I bought it with 2300 miles. They were pretty well shot. 2. Dunlop 616 -- previous owner included them, said they were take offs. I ran them for just under 4K miles. 3. Metzeler Tourance Next -- good handling tires, about 4K on a rear and 8k on the front. 4. Pirelli Angel GT -- great highway tires, did 9k on these. I put these on for a 6k mile trip last summer, finished them up in March of this year. I had the Metzelers on before and after the Angel GTs. I mostly like rides with an overnight in them. I ride one up with all three HB bags plus a gear bag strapped to the seat. Occasionally ride on gravel back roads, but mostly on paved back roads. That's my Uly tyre experience. I'm curious about the mileage you will get out of the Scorp Trail II's. I almost went with a pair, but got a really good deal on a set of Pilot Road 4's. I have PR 3's on it last and I got mind-blowing long life out of them - 10,000+ I highly recommend these for any sport-touring application. | ||

I'm after 1 season with Trail II's. I did like 8k miles. Front - still ~70% (!), rear - worn almost to the wear marks in the centre. I replaced the rear with Metzeler Tourance Next which is said to be a twin tire for Scorpion Trails. | ||

@ Hunger, I'll be happy if I get 8k miles on the Trail II. I only got 4K miles on the Metzeler Tourance Next rears. Wore out two rears to one front. Barry Hollister, CA | ||

Hi again. This is the wear after ~8k. There is still some tread but generally its close to the markers. So this is rather good mileage. If Metzelers last only 4k I will probably want Pirellis again next time. Strange, rumor has it it's actually the same tire.  |
