As some of you may known American Sportsbike is shutting down. It is a very sad moment indeed. I'm not sure what to say other than direct a whole lot of hate towards Harley Davidson.

With that being said can you guys post a link of ulysses specific parts that are worth stocking up on now before they are totally obsolete.

Belts are the only thing to really even worry about. All the other wear and maintenance parts have reliable aftermarket options.

I would add front and rear isolator if you're a high mileage guy.

That is crappy news, indeed.
Al is one of the reasons I kept my Uly and sold the BMW to finance my KTM. Poor resale value of the Buell was the other.

Then again, uncertainty over my Buell's future sustainability was a big factor in buying the KTM in the first place.

Al at least gave me confidence you could find one business you could trust for support, especially after EBR went under.

Hopefully my Uly won't need to many parts, now that my bearings issues seem to have more robust solutions.

On Al's website he specifically names St Paul HD as his recommended part supplier. The owner is a Buell enthusiast and is ready and willing to ship and support worldwide.

Unfortunately it seems, all good things must come to an end.

The bigger concern is for Al and Joann; what becomes of them?

They've been such a pleasure to deal with. Quick service and the knowledge they share with us has been a godsend... Very sad day indeed.

Thanks for all the kind words, folks. Lance at HD/Buell in St. Paul is going to take care of you, don't worry. If you've been getting any OEM parts from us, they've been coming from Lance to us for years. He knows the bikes, and has solved issues that you never even knew were issues. He communicates with the folks at HD and Vintage all the time and knows how to get things done. He is NOT the average Buell dealer parts guy that you've had to deal with in the past. He's good folk. Just give him the benefit of the doubt while he figures out the best way to deal with the lot of you.

Joanne and I will be fine. We're going to "retire", whatever that means, for a while at least. We saved for that during my engineering/management career and Joanne's land planning career prior to taking over American Sport Bike. And then I'm sure social security will take good care of us

I'm not likely to idle well, so I'm sure I'll find something productive to do at some point. But for now, some time off is needed. We've only had a couple real vacations in the 12 years here at American Sport Bike, and there are so many home projects that have been left undone because this place takes all our time. So for a while, we'll do some traveling and motorcycle riding and then figure out what we want to do when we grow up.

That sounds better Al, but we're still gonna miss you two. American Sport Bike is how a business should be conducted, and I can't thank you enough for the times I called and pestered you for info.

Good on you and Joanne for taking time for yourselves.

Al is right about Lance. Both Al and Lance have helped me out.

And Al one piece of advice. Do not, under any circumstance, grow up.

"Growing up leads to growing old and then to dying,
And dying to me don't sound like all that much fun" - John Cougar Mellencamp

Good luck to you and your bride. It was always a pleasure doing business with you. I'm about to retire soon too so I understand the slight fear of the unknown but I think we can both handle it!

Al, thanks for having the passion, knowledge and guts to run a business that catered to a minority of supposed misfits(we are the one eyed men in the land of the blind). American Sportbikes will be missed. Please keep sharing your knowledge with us!

Total bummer, I was hoping to source a lot of parts from asb in 2016 before Harley ditches Buell. Enjoy your retirement.

A parts guy at the harley dealership told me it is 10 years from 2010 from when the last buells were sold.

I've poked around at HD a few time in the last month or two to find out the the big answer of how long will the parts be getting made. The answer I keep getting basically is these is no real shut off point for each of the parts it all in how many they sell and if they can keep the supplier building them at a reasonable price.

and . . . that is accurate information. There is no finite deadline for either support or parts.

There are some parts . . . ooooopps . . . .that, I assure you, there are enough to last into the next millennium.

I believe that St. Paul H-D and Wild Prairie H-D in Eden Prairie, MN are sister dealerships, or they are at least associated in some way. Wild Prairie was my go-to for parts when I had my Uly, (I work nearby) and the parts department there was always very friendly and helpful. I have to admit that parts concerns were a major reason for my selling my Uly, but it's good to know there are still people who care about Buell owners out there.
