The performance in the rain of my Uly just gets worse and worse with every thunderstorm I ride through (running on one cylinder on any uphill grade and dieing unless I keep it tacked up to 3k RPMS)...and I hate the thought of having to get to the coils and plug wires...then there's no guarantee that the plug wires are the culprit, right? What else could it be?

Magnecor 2557 amazon.com, your problem will end. Was not that hard. I removed the airbox, filter and filter base. Removed the coil and stuck those connections hard and taped with electrical tape. Went really quick and that was 10000 miles ago. Had your exact problem and never wanted to experience that again. And it never has.

Looks like I have a project in the morning. LOL...

Should probably do some other maintenance while its down as well: break pads, front tire, primary flush and change. I'm sure I can think of more if I try.

Overdue for front fork seals but not looking forward to that.

Raycc1 is spot on. It's probably just the front plug lead that's arcing so slob a bunch of dielectric grease in the boot and on the metal connector and you shouldn't have any more problems in that area.

I raised the coil up 3/4" with 2 spacers and longer bolts. This allows the front plug wire to run between the throttle cables and also helps straighten the wire out so it doesn't rub the frame. I put the Magnecors on too and have never had another problem.

The cam sensor wires was the problem with mine. It's harness was routed across the edge of the plastic chin faring. The insulation wore through each wire just enough that when it got wet it would sputter. I did not find it until a couple of months later when it would just quit when it got wet.

My front plug wire also got eaten by the idle adjuster cable.
