From Jlnance:

- Throttle cables & wiring harness shield. Affects early 06
The forks bang on the throttle cables and wiring harness at full left lock. A guard was added to protect the wiring harness in 07. It also seems to protect the throttle cables even though they are not directly covered by it. The 07 guard will retrofit onto an 06. It is a little difficult to order as it is not shown in the exploded parts diagram in the 07 parts book. It is listed in the parts list on the facing page. Part# Y1000.2AK

Also, if you have an 06 Uly, and the throttle does not want to snap shut, your cables may have already been damaged. Replacing the throttle cables (there are 2, make sure to order both) will fix this.

Mine built in May 06 has the new cable-harness guide with the forms that cover the cables,I bought it new in oct.so I don't know if it came with it or if the dealer put it on under some program or recall. So am I right in thinking the one with the cable guide is the updated one.

Yes, you're good with the cable guide. The original bikes did not have one at all.

Can someone please post a photo of the guard? I haven't seen one.
Thanks.

Thanks Jlnance. I'm glad I asked - that's a lot more guard than I expected.

Does it wrap around or slip over? If it slips over, how much wiring needs to be disconnected to install it?

Tginnh, I don't know the details, I had the dealer install it. It has bolt holes, I assume you remove the 2 bolts visible in the photo and fasten it with them.

OK, I'm cornfuzed about the cable guide. My '06 - purchased as a leftover last April (08), has a cable guard. Was that a tech bulletin or something? Or did some have it / some didn't? I'd have to check my build date... I was getting ready to upgrade it though, and it looks just like the ones on our new '09s. <shrug>

Ratbuell - It appears they started putting the guards on sometime in the 06 model year. My Oct 05 built Uly did not have one.

the cable/harness guard bolt over the harness/cable, it is an easy add without messing with any harness or cable.
My June 2006 Uly came with one already on it.
