I just purchased an '08 XB12X last weekend and am very pleased with the bike with a couple of exceptions. Number 1 has to be the seat -- not comfortable at all. I upgraded from an '07 Sportster, and I thought that seat was bad, but the Uly's is worse IMO. I searched the threads here and didn't seem to find much on seat modifications or replacement seats. Any recommendations? Does it get better over time? |

The stock 06 is much better...I have both...the 06 and 07...If you are 6"0 and have a 33" inseam you can use the 06..MY 07 sits in the garage..the 07/08 seat will sell the bikes as the 06 seat makes the bike tall and intimidating. You might order a sheepskin from www.alaskaleathers.com...they are a benefit to any seat.. |

I had the 06 seat and now have the 06 low seat. I though the 07/08 seat sucked as well. It's great at allowing your feet to touch the ground, but I found the narrow "neck" to be like straddling a 2X4 edgewise. Many who like it sit farther back. I tend to slide further forward on the seat. If you aren't tall, I'd recommend the 06 seat. It's slightly lower than the 06 and not as narrow in the front as the 07/08. |

Not that tall 5'9" with 32" inseam. The '08 seat works well in height, I wouldn't want to go any higher. I'm pretty much right up against the breather box, which is comfortable ..... for a while. If I slide back to the "cupped" portion of the seat I have a long reach to the handlebars. It's not something I can't live with, I have to fill up @ 140 miles or so anyway, a good time for a break from the seat. The Corbin seat looks pretty good, but I haven't seen many posts on this board about it. I'd hate to spend $400 and then not like the seat. |

"If you aren't tall, I'd recommend the 06 seat. It's slightly lower than the 06 and not as narrow in the front as the 07/08." F_B, That's a typo isn't it. Wouldn't your recommendation be the 06 LOW seat? The 06 low seat is about 1/2" lower than the 07/08 and has a gel insert I believe. |

Yep Gotj, typo. If you aren't tall, I'd recommend the 06 LOW seat. I really like mine. It's very comfortable, and much cheaper than a Corbin. It's also "slippery" so it doesn't grab my textile pants. The 06 seat was like velcro.} |

I can relate to the seat comfort, I have 08 and did, 9000 Mi. on stock seat, with the aid of an Airhawk seat pad, and it still would get pretty uncomfortable after 300 +. So while on the road I bought the optional seat with the gel in riders portion. It was somewhat better, the width allowed my feet a bit closer to the ground and it is a better looking seat. Without the pad I can do 200 or so, then it time for the Airhawk. The stock seat I used the pad at 100 mi. |

I only have to get off when the fuel light comes on. Otherwise, I can run all day. I believe it to be more comfortable than the 06 stock seat for sure. |

I like the '06 stock seat. I have the '06 low and I like for around town, but long trips are much better for me on the '06 stock. I rolled my bars back about an inch and I move all around on the seat to stay comfortable. I also have the Air Hawk and I like it just for the long trips due to it increasing the height and taking a few miles to really settle in. |

The stock '06 seat is the best seat I have ever experienced on a motorcycle. At 5-9, 32 inseam it works fine for me. |

I was under the impression it would cost a whole lot more. Did the seat height increase with the work done to it? |

A little higher than a low seat but lower than the stock seat |

Lower than the '07/08 stock or 06 stock? I would like something in between the two. I've been overly happy with the '07 stock and I tend to ride on the airbox as well, but I do get cramped up in the legs after a tank of gas or so. I wouldn't hit a dead dog in the ass with the '06 stock seat. It was good for about 15min max before the punishment set in. I would like the comfort of the '07 but a little more height for leg room. I think Mayers are fully custom and he could do that anyways right? |

Jmhinkle, I had 1" of carpet padding (non-foam type) put under my 07 seat. The upholsterer was able to use the stock cover. |

the 06 seat is the best option there is for the Ulysses. I tried the 06 low seat but after riding with it I switched back to the 06 stock seat. I've also rode the 07 seats and I wouldn't want those on my motorcycle. They just don't feel as comfortable for the long ride. If I was you, I'd get that seat that Lastcyclone has for sale. Well worth the money! |

I had the low seat on my 07 Ugly, but changed back to the high 06 seat for comfort,it is slightly wider as well, but I much prefer the seat, the other option is head to Bagster.com,and build a seat on their site,no idea as to how much they are as they are made in France, but I am seriously looking at one, more from the point of view that I can build it how I want it. Gotj, Did they put it between the current foam and pan or current foam and seat cover? I also have a barely used Orange and Black '06 for those wanting the monster. |

Jmhinkle, My bad. They put the padding between the stock foam and the pan. I wanted the whole 1" rise which is why I didn't go with a foam insert. Also, I'm one of those who prefers the 07 seat configuration and I didn't want to change it. In fact, one of my early concepts was to reconfigure the foam of the 06 seat to approximate the 07. What I was looking for was the the extra setback offered by the 07. |

I've got the 06 standard. I am 6' 34" inseam and fits well. I have completed two two day trips to Chicago from Alabama (14hours in the saddle) only stopped for gas. Never got a soar rear either time. |

I guess it boils down to personal preference in regards to ones' bootie! I just did 1600 miles in three days on the '07 seat, with two of the days around 700 miles each, and I am not sore one bit. We need people to purchase some of these other seat options, like the Bill Mayer seat, an ship it around to all the interested BadWeb riders. A round robin with the seat staying 2-3 days at each location. Any volunteers to buy the seat? |

After reading Bill Mayer web site I don't know that that would work. He has specific pictures taken and questions for the new buyer. I think most of his seats are tailored to the individual rider. I was going to send mine to him till I discovered one of the rear seat tabs was broken off. HD tried to super glue it but it broke back off right away. |
