Finally got the first nippy riding day here in NJ. My buddies all gathered round the Uly heat blower vent under the seat ( where the new "plugs" would go) warming their hands on the exiting hot air. Now I know why the fan keeps running after the bike shuts off. Just hope they don't want me to blow dry their hands after a trip to the john! |

Funny - I was thinking the other night how nice it is to have heated grips AND a heated seat on my '08! |

I put the "little plastic heat deflectors" on the bike and I am pretty sure as the temps drop they will come off. I was thinking of getting a spare pair, modding them to a vent and a pair of overpants for a volkswagen approach to heated gear! |

Just a thought. I did about 600 miles this weekend on my XB12R, and marveled at how much less the fan runs than on my 06 Uly. What is so different about the Uly that makes the fan run constantly? Granted, the ambient temps were lower this weekend, but even in equal temps, the fan on the 12R runs less. |

Hate to sidetrack a thread, but I've been noticing and wondering about the same fan issue as Johnnylunchbox. The fan on my 12R I sold a few months ago probably ran about half as much as that on my new 06 Uly. I thought changing to synthetics at 1000 would help the fan run less, like it did on the 'Bolt, but it still seems to run constaantly- even on the 50 degree nights we've had lately. Seems it's not unique to mine? |

The Uly does runs longer, many believe its because of less airflow getting to the rear cylinder and larger tail section restricting air from exiting a bit more than a Firebolt. |

The area around the shock is a lot smaller then on some of the other models. Wesman now all you need is a swivel so you can direct the warm air where you want it and a box to warm breakfast burritos in. |
