I would like to apologize for my whiny little comments regarding the new to me "Ping". It does really make me angry that I am paying so much for a machine with certain niggles that seem more serious than they really are. If you remember, my first ping was over Labor Day weekend, and my ping occurred 300 miles from home. Not being very mechanically adept to understand what even caused engine ping until after a little research and suggestions from you guys, I know that the bike has certain limits, and is not bulletproof (but close). I have to admit, I was in the "lemon law" mindset up until reading this post... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/257032.html ...and feeling so completely pissed off that I bought such a piece of shit, kicking myself for a $13k mistake, when I shoulda bought the "this or that" water-cooled import. I just need to take a deep breath and become one with the bike, treat her real nice, take her out for some ice cream every now and again. It's starting to cool off here, which should keep the heat factor down a good deal. This is my first air-cooled bike, and it's super easy to fall into the "H-D engine" blame game. I have to admit, I ride like a bat outta hell, redlining almost every chance I get. Probably not very good for the engine, but hopefully with regular maintenance and a watchful eye, she should be alright...at least for 60 months. So, in closing, I will continue to run her as usual, but keeping in mind that a little TLC will go a long, long way. Thanks again to you guys for your existence and wealth of knowledge for this kickass bike! Love, Mike |

Welcome to Buell!! Dont worry, My old 12R was beaten like a kid with Jordans and Raiders jacket on a daily basis and made it to 35k before I destroyed the rest of her. Motor is still good btw. |

Mike- I found adding 1/4 can of octane booster per tank helps considerably in hot weather. I'm still amazed by the bike and it's grin factor! No complaints here - going to see Erik Buell tomorrow at Liberty Buell/HD in NJ and give him a big hug..... ok just kidding, but I hope to shake his hand! Wes |

Be careful with octane boosters. You need to make sure that any you use in your Buell are o2 sensor safe. |

As long as we're all getting it all off of our chests here, I should do the same thing. I want to apologize to everyone for always being right about everything I say here. And also for being the good looking, smooth talking, devil I am. It must be real disheartening for you folks. Jack (with tongue in cheek in case someone missed the point) :>) |

Jackbequick, I looked at your Profile photo and surmised that you must have one of those fun-house mirrors. |

Woah! Somebody got some last night! Either that, or became confused after taking their senior meds! |
