I got a set of Parkway Blue (purple) bodywork for my S1. I saw this color on S2s but I didn't know if this was a stock color for an S1 ever. Looks factory. Thanks in advance. I know someone here will have the answer. |

Gorgeous bodywork, eh? There was a neat article in Motorcyclist about the bike and here's a shot from Battle2Win. First Buell to circle Daytona when Erik Buell rode it in the parade lap at the first Buell race. I've still got the matching helmet that was painted with it (like 7 coats of Parkway Blue and 3 clear) at the same time the body work was done. The body work was later replaced with all carbon fiber that was painted by the guys at the factory to make it appear as it had been hit with a purple water balloon.

In fact . . . allow me one quick story . . . that was the night he'd left Mukwonago late on his red, white and blue RS-1200 with the family behind in a mini-van. It was about a 700 mile ride and he'd left WAY late and hit the toll booth on the Tri-State Tollway. As he wheels up to get the ticket, the clerk . . . "my gawd man . . that's a frickin' Buell". "Dude, I know you're in a hurry . . . but I have to tell you . . . that bike is built by some crazy dude who worked for HD, told them bye-bye and builds the damn things in a barn north of here . . . they are awesome". I remember Erik telling the story and, of course, I asked "did you tell him who you were?". . .. "Nahhh" |

I actually found the slide (yeah, good old Ektachrome) of when that bike was built. It arrived in High Voltage Yellow. It was taken out of the crate and dissassembled. I mean EVERY part down to the crank pin. Everything from the flywheels (Truet and Osborne) to the exhaust (thanks SuperTrapp for the one-off custom) was replaced. Every cast part . . . engine mounts, brake caliper and so forth was sent to Browns in Kentucky and polished to a mirror finish. I have a picture of the entire bike, down to each and every screw laying on the shop floor as it posed for an "exploded diagram". This is the bike that Reg and Company kept in CA for use, Erik rode at the historic "First Buell to Circle Daytona" and the one Erik had the little "tiff" with Keith Caradines son on the Ducati 916 on in the mountain pass. (HINT: Erik toasted him . . . TWO UP!) I've had LOTS of Buells . . . that is arguably the best known. |

Wow...I bought the bodywork off of Ebay about 2 years ago. The seller told me that it was from the first Daytona Buell but I wanted to verify this with you guys before I mentioned it. I appreciate all of the info. I have been reading this site for years without posting. The bike will be up and running in the next few weeks. It is a 97, I broke the front motor mount and rebuilt the top end...turned into a full on restoration. I still have the Snap Red and will be able to switch back and forth. Can't put any old parts that aren't polished, lighter, or better back on. Sincere thanks to Al and Joan at www.AmericanSportbike.com ! I think everyone here already knows their customer service and inventory ROCKS. I will post some pics once I get it finished and figure out the compression deal. Are those seriously plastic lunch box saddle bags? |

If you bought the bodywork I sold on e-bay it was the "2nd Generation" Barney-work and was very high quality carbon fiber splashed with Parkway Blue paint. |

It looks just like the ones in the pictures you sent. All one color other than the usual stock stickers. The paint is very good quality and the tank isn't bubbled like most of the stickers did. It is a fiberglass tail and fender, not CF. Maybe this is first generation? Could be a copy but it looks factory. |

Steve... Look Here Let me know if you find somebody that carries the old paints. I can't get the pearl white for the S1W any longer. I've been told that Sikkens discontinued all the Buell colors about 18 months ago. |
