My "new to me" 2001 S 3T has the 3-D Buell tank logos. They have raised lettering on plastic pieces that look like they are glued onto the tank. I would like to remove them for a smooth clean look but I am not sure how to do so without damaging the finish on the tank. Would "Goo Gone" or penetrating oil work? An advice or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave |

Mine pulled off without messing up the paint underneath, but the bike was fairly new when I did this. Perhaps heating them with a hair dryer (carefully!) will soften the glue up a bit. I really, really love the way the tank looks without the letters on them. I had planned on putting them back on when I got the tank repainted, but the contours of the tank really stand out without them. You'll see gentle, pleasing bulges and curves in areas that weren't quite apparent before. I love the look. Plus, it makes the bike even harder for the uninitiated to identify. |

Use unwaxed dental floss. It worked for me. |

Yup, Mine came off with no problems at all with a hair dryer. It was 7 years old and 20k miles, yet they didn't leave a mark in the paint underneith. |

Bluzm2, The dental floss worked method worked perfectly! It cut the rubber cement like a saw so I could just pick them up to remove them. A little "Goo Gone" cleaned everything and it looks great. Thanks for the help. Dave |

Happy to be of service, that's what this board is all about. Brad |
