As with Rocco, I will be housed at the track (Road America). I hope everyone can make it there for the MotoST race on Sunday, there should be a strong Buell presence and with MotoST there is PIT STOPS. Yes pit stops for fuel and rider change. In addition to the CCS/ASRA races with Dan Bilansky defending his #1 title in the ASRA series. Lots of good stuff in addition to all the good Buell happenings. (I guess I'll miss the "fireworks" display like the motel in Appleton had(Lake,Spidey,FJ,Bomber and others..) So let the plans unfold and look forward to seeing everyone sometime during the weekend. |

Lake, I think Andy is doing a great job. But as in the past, someone has to take the bull by the horns and get stuff planned. I know the stuff we (you, BadS1,Spidey and me) planned last year pissed some people off but if they would get on it, then guys like us wouldn't have to plan their event. I think the host hotel is the main thing that needs to get set in stone. I won't be making the Homecoming this year. I am kinda busy running a business now and am open all day on Saturday. As an operation of one, I can't just close the doors. |

That's disappointing to hear DaveS, on the other hand I'm glad that your new business is busy enough that you can't take off. Kind of a mixed blessing eh? |

It's hard to step on anyones toes when no one is doing anything. It's good that people here are wiling to take time out of their day to try and put something together. I think Buell should have either done it right off the bat, or asked for help in the planning of this. Not to put Buell down as their main job is to build and sell bikes, not plan "rallies" but people do need information to get time off work and such. I don't get paid vacations, but I also don't have to "put in" for time off, so it's not difficult for me. Others need months in advance notice, and dragging ass in the Hotel end at least, puts them at a disadvantage. That and it being a Holiday were most people will take off the 4th, 5th and 6th make finding a place that much more difficult. I remember Gearhead, who is coming from Iowa to race at R.A. post months ago that he was having a hard time finding a place to stay. That's with CCS,ASRA (the governing body of the race weekend) blocking out rooms at a Hotel in Fond du Lac. I still say if you're really interested in going DON'T WAIT to find a Hotel. Find something right in the middle and you'll have a nice ride to East Troy, Racine,Hal's, Appleton and R.A. It isn't like that stuff is all that far apart! |

Steve its great that you are taking care of the Hotel end of things but to get a dinner together is something that should be done as well. It's always been a great time to bench race and get to know new people and faces. |

I'll be in southernmost Texas for a few days around that time, bummer. For hotels, there are a few small motels scattered around the region, Jackson, Port Washington (on hwy LL), elsewhere, that often have rooms still available. You know, the old, small, privately owned types where lots of movies look like they could have been filmed there, small reservation desk where you ring a bell and a voice comes up from behind a door saying they'll be right there, then when you hear a commercial come on the TV blasting in the other room you see some character out of Pulp Fiction or an old Hitchcock film walk out (often in bathrobe even though it's well past 2:00pm). Usually nice places to stay, lots of character and charm, ambiance as some would say. Anyway, worth checking into if other big Hotel plans don't pan out. It is sad when plans aren't really announced until March sometime when other decisions were already made in January and February. But should be a good time for those that go none the less. Gotta run, off to take care of stuff.... |

I'm interested in coming up to watch Gearhead race. Put me in for 1 room and I'll make formal reservations. I am planning a two-week trip to Idaho at the end of July but I should be able to come up Thursday after work and stay until Sunday. |

I was just thinking that Saturday would make a good day to ride home, and Sunday will be a good day to just rest and get ready to go back to work. I really don't enjoy getting in from a trip late Sunday night and having to be at work the next morning... (Message edited by naustin on April 03, 2007) |

Just an update to the Hotel situation. Rumor has it that Buell themselves have been talking with a bunch of local hotels. I guess there is some problem with room rates during Homecoming. Since there is some PGA tour going on in the Milwaukee area at the same time. But I'd bet that Hotel info will be posted up on Buells site within the week. Hals has some cool stuff brewing. If it works out, it'll be VERY cool. I wish I could say more, but wont until plans are cast in stone. We should also all make sure and thank Bud Curtis & Kirk Toppel at Hals for their hard work. Sorry Krusty, pancakes aren't part of the plans |

Wow. I was at Hal's this past Saturday, they have next to nothing for accessories as of now. No t-shirts, little for hats, no decals, little for bike accessories. If they're planning on having all these Buell folks in there, they better get on the ball. What's sadder is they have 2 bikes ( a Uly and a Blast) on the showroom floor and about 8 shoved into an entrance way off the showroom. I guess you could look at the glass half full and say..."well, at least they have bikes". Thing is, they have 3x as much as Suburban HD/Buell in Thiensville! Suburban has 1 hat, 2 small helmets and a clearance rack of woman's Blast shirts. |

I was at a dealer this weekend to claim my skull cap, and they had 8 new Buells, and 2 used ones. They were all together in front of the parts counter. Sure, they were at the back, but that's a pretty prominent spot for them - I thought it was cool and I spent some time sitting on the TT and a Uly. The guy at the parts counter was friendly and I thanked him profusely. Zylstra in Elk River, MN |
