BAS relocation recall was completed week before last. All was well until yesterday. Did a 350 mile ride and had to cycle the kill switch 5 times. I did it while still rolling. Shop has one in stock, so I will be getting it swapped out before this weekend. Keep this in mind folks. My BAS has been in the old location since Last July. If your BAS is original or has been replaced for a long period of time, your issue might not be completely solved. I think the "new" BAS had been in place long enough to kill it. I think the recall should have included a new replacement BAS, but I'm sure supply would have been critically tapped and there is no sense in replacing sensors if no problem arises. Just keep your eye on 'em, folks. We may not be out of the woods yet. Either that or my butt puts out a resonant vibration detrimental to Bank Angle Sensors. Maybe it's the burrito platter. |

When you're ten years older you will avoid the burrito platters all together. Drink more milk before you ride to give your BAS a break! |

I guess I'm just lucky. Must be butt flab hanging over the cooling vents. I wondered why my cooling fan sounds quieter than other peoples. (Message edited by ft_bstrd on March 25, 2007) |

Lovely, my original BAS has worked fine in the original location including the one time the bike wanted to check out the ground. I get my recall on this coming Friday and mine will probably start acting up because that is my luck. |

I have not had any issues with mine since it was replaced at about 8000 miles, the recall was done at 10000, now at 13000. Running great even with the B.A.W. as an air brake. But then, I have also avoided the hot wings and the bean burritos since about the 6000 mile mark. |

I am on my second one and it has began to act-up. I have an appt. Saturday to get the recall done....if Ft B doesn't get to my part first. |

So there is an extra strong force in Tennessee that causes the BAS to go bad. Maybe it's riding the Dragon too much. No more corners for you guys! |

Chris, You can have the "other" BAS. If you saw the road we found Saturday, you'd understand why the BAS are failing. Severe up and down as well as side to side. On one turn we crested a hill in an off-camber right hander just to have the road fall away in a 90 degree blind turn to the left. I'm still cleaning cake out of my britches! |

I was tied up with the yard thing Sat. I almost said f... it and came over anyway. I saw the post on the other board, if I don't make it over there with you guys, I will have to hunt that one down. |

Hey Fatty...the turn wasn't quite 90 degrees, but the road did drop away to the left leaving a pond in front of you. The fun thing was cresting the hill and getting that "which way did it go" feeling as you're looking for the road. "Oh THERE it is, down there!" |

I remember it being pretty sharp. I might have had a bit of "pond fixation"! I had the same sensation riding last weekend. Rick was leading and the road "Y"s. The left fork takes about a 55 degree jog to the left. The right fork drops about 40 feet. I didn't know which way they went! Yikes! Chris, you should have come out. Please let us know if you would like to come. You are always welcome. |

Just called my dealer in hopes he can schedule mine for the BAS recall, only recently bought the Uly used so don't know if I will get a letter. The service guy said he would call and order the BAS and have it by Tuesday...does that sound correct or are the parts still back ordered ? |

Got my recall installed this morning. Took about an hour altogether, but they only had a couple of guys working and a shop full of bikes, so I didn't think that was bad. I still haven't put many miles on my 07 (~1600 miles as of this morning) so hopefully I haven't inflicted any damage on the original BAS. Time will tell. |

13500 on my original BAS. I can say that it is probably because I rarely turn. |

I am getting the BAS done before MBIV. I hope the thing doesn't screw up now. I hate to fix something that ain't broke. At 19,000 miles and two drops and multiple hard turns, it has never gave me any trouble. We shall see. |

It isn't a ride ender, but it is a little disconcerting to have the bike just die. No lights, no indications. It just stops running. Cycle the kill switch (while rolling) and life re-enters the beast. Mine always did it on straight flat patches. I guess it was my bikes way of saying "get to the good stuff already!" |

If that happened in a turn, that could be REALLY bad. Like flying off the side of a mountain and experiencing death bad. Can I get in your will?? |

It has never happened in a turn. Not that it couldn't, but it simply hasn't. It would only affect acceleration, not handling. |

Way back when mine was "doing it", the first two times my fifteen year old son was on the back. We dropped two gears, pulled out to pass a car on a two lane passing zone, got ten feet ahead of the car just as I was about to pull back in it quit. I had to quickly find a place to get off the road to the left as there were cars now coming at us. We got lucky there was an open drive way for an old gas station. Checked out the bike didn't find any thing, it started right up, so off we go. A little later on the Blue Ridge Parkway a truck with a camper was motioning the group of bikes around them. So as we accelerate to pass it died. The bike behind us nearly ran over us and again I had to shoot off to the left because I couldn't complete the pass and a car showed up coming at us. This time we went through an open grassy ditch over a curb into an overlook parking lot. But the absolute worst one was when I had my wife on the back in four lanes of traffic running 70 MPH with trucks to the right, concrete barrier with no pull off room and a line of 70 MPH cars on my butt. It died, but thanks to this BadWeb we didn't. At that time we had all been discussing it on this forum. We had found that by recycling the start switch it would fire back up, that was probably the quickest I had ever done it. We turned around, headed straight to the dealership and explained what BadWeb had found and they fixed it on the spot. Not because of warranty, but because of what was found as a group on this BadWeb, and thanks to Smoky Mountain HD. |

Something didn't sound right when I made my appointment for the BAS so a buddy and I went by the dealership to check .They could not find record of me nor was I on the list for the BAS, this, inspite of being given an appt for Tuesday and being told they would order it yesterday. I knew one person on the BAS list and he had been on it for 2 weeks w/ still no part.I asked the parts guy if he still thought he could have the part in by 4-3 and he said he had no idea, they were waiting for the "Wave Order". Being a little surprised, I asked if they had not already received their first few BAS'. To which he replied " Yeah, we put them on bikes in the showroom"..sheer genius. |

Yeah, we put them on bikes in the showroom"..sheer genius. I just picked up my Uly about 2weeks ago. they did all recalls before I took delivery. They had to by Law! I know this sucks about BAS parts on showroom bikes. But the Factory puts a Stop sale order on New units until Recalls are complete.

I'm betting there are scads of BAS units in stock at Buells warehouse. And I'm betting they would ship them overnight if the dealer would call them. I don't know that for sure, but I'm willing to bet they would. |

Took a ride today to get the free knit hat and asked if the BAS recall could be done since I was there. Lancaster (PA) H/D Buell took the bike in and had it done in about 1/2 hour. No appointment, no problem, parts in stock. 13000 miles on the bike and BAS never a problem up to now. Hopefully the new location will be just as problem free. |

The good thing is if you have never had a problem with your BAS, the chances of a failure are slim that it will this weekend. Even if it does it can easily be dealt with knowing to cycle the ignition and restart. Ride, ride, ride, restart, ride, ride....no problem!! |

My BAS would quit on corners, usually when my wife was riding with me. It was just like I ran out of gas. After multiple failures, talking to Etennuly and reading BadWeb I told my dealer during a service visit "Do me one favor, just replace the BAS". They did and I never had another stall out. That was 6 months ago. Still runs fine after the relocation. Thanks BadWeb! |

Why can't you just jump the sensor to bypass it. Seems like it's more of a concern than good? |

If you ever drop your bike the BAS shuts off the fuel to kill the engine. It is a good idea that I am glad is on my bike. If the bike tips over it will immediately shut off the engine, which can stop a lot of bad things from happening, like lying on its side running starving itself of oil while leaking gas out the overflow. A bike with an engine having this much torque could launch itself if it was idling in gear if someone stood it back up without getting the clutch all of the way back in causing another wreck. I have tipped mine over sitting still waiting to turn. The engine shut off. There was only a little scuff on one of my bags and no other damage. I'm glad it wasn't running as it laid on its side. |
