My rear shock does NOT match the picture in the bible. I have no preload adjustment screw. I can't figure out how to up load a picture (all mine are too big). Can anyone send a pic of what one is SUPPOSED to look like? I have all the engine problems sorted out. Now just need to get rid of the bounces and MASSIVE rebound that I get from hitting a pebble on the road (and to ensure my knees don't get cramped if I roll over even the SLIGHTEST pavement imperfection). |

Thanks to all that replied (got some PMs on this topic). It turns out this IS the recall shock (my dealer was wrong). They are taking care of it. |

I just bought a 2000 M2 myself and trying to get the replacement shock for it.The current cobbled up one has the safety reinforcement hardware on it.Is the replacement shock going to ride any better than the one thats on it now? Or should I just get a aftermarket shock for it? BTW, I go about 240lb and looking for a comfortable ride. Thanks Brutis |

The replacement for the 2000 SRP shock is the same shock used on the 2001 S3, X1, and M2. It has rebound and compression damping adjustments, a remote reservoir, and is shorter than the stock 2000 shock. It requires a revised shock mount. It seems to work better than the original shock, but that's not really saying much. My replacement shock lasted a couple years before the damping crapped out. If you had to pay full price for the shock, I'd go aftermarket. I got mine for a $100 'adminstrative fee' (bullshit charge) at a local dealer. I got my money's worth, I guess. I can't wait to get a Penske. |

An update on my saga. The dealer first said - no problemo. I thought - very cool - love this dealership. Now they say that the motor company has closed the recall - every bike affected was fixed. So - my bike is still a 85HP pogo stick. What are the affordable aftermarket options? This isn't my race bike - more of a little bit tourer, mostly hooligan bike. It is a project bike (that has been fixed on a tight budget). |

Call customer Service. They may be able to help you more than the dealer. |
