Denis Bouan aboard his Buell XB12SS (Ulysses in France)won the 2006 Moto-Tour! Another Buell (a Lightning Long) finished 8th. The Moto Tour is a 3091 km competition through France over 8 days, made of “liaisons” and “Special Stages” (very similar to car’s WRC, world rally championship). There were 61 Expert entries and 144 Amateur entries. This victory, in one of the most popular race in France, is really a big deal, as this is considered a brutal race. Here is the official results web-site, with day by day results: http://www.ris-timing.be/tour/2006/index.htm Translation of terms: ES 1, ESn: Ranking on the special stage General de l’etape: ranking of the day Par classe de l’etape: ranking by category Classement feminine: female rider ranking Clasement challenge: Special challenges ranking General après l’etape: Overall ranking after every given leg Penalisation: penalties of the day |

I think that is completely awesome! There's a huge cross section of bikes in there, and the Uly comes out on top! Way to go Buell Ulysses! |

That is awesome! Did you know we took the Guinness World Record for the largest number of motorcycles doing a consecutive burn out from the French? It happened on Aug 26 at Smoky Mountain H D. Eric was toasting a Buell as well as the H D stunt team with three Buells. I even saw an elderly gent on a Blast, and I had the only Ulysses. The old record was something like 89, we had officially 213. Smoky Mountain H D has it on their web site. Love to see the Uly participate and kick ass. |

That is a plain out weird motorcycle. It truly is a cross between a Uly and Lightning long. Judging by the height of it next to him, I think it has Uly suspenders along with flyscreen and bars, but it is Lightning Long from the Tank back. Is that really how they sell the Uly in France?

http://buell.com/fr_fr/home.asp Show me where the French Uly is any different in looks from what we buy here in the states. The XB12Ss is not shown as a ULY on the French Buell site with the link above. |

That is not a Ulysses. It's a Buell for sure and Anonymous needs to clear the confusion on this one. |

No. If you ask me (but you didn't) thats an SS with only the windshield of a Uly. |

uly screen, and it has frame pucks, but everything else looks like a regular lightning ( the foot peg brackets, lack of hand guards, tail section, 'on the wheel'front fender). I've never kept track of what colors the engine components & covers are, so I cant comment on whether the powerplant is lightning, or uly derived. be interesting to know WHY its a hybrid.. |

It has handguards. They kind of blend in, but they are there. It is definitely Uly Front/top, but I think it is all Lightning long after that. |

"That is not a Ulysses." Nor is it Denis Bouan or his race winning Buell. |

Looks like him to me. Also looks like the bike to me. Don't mistake the photographer name in the pic for the rider. http://www.esprit-racing.com/pilo/dbouan.htm http://www.esprit-racing.com/6/ddmt10.htm |
