I've been slacking big time as the Frederick Brag meeting should be tomorrow and I just realized it. Considering the weather's going to be somewhat lame, I'd like to get folks to come out on Sunday for Pete's ride and hold our meeting next week. I'll see you Sunday Pete. I'll send a notice here in a few minutes... |

Hey Ras.. Yeah, there are two.. (sorry) .. The one we meet at is at the corner of Market and Plaza. There's a gas station right across from it (other side of Plaza).. If you're coming in from Rt. 15, take the Rt. 7 (leesburg pike) exit into Leesburg. This will put you on Market St. (Rt. 7) two traffic lights in (or so) is the Roy Rogers on the right. Across the street from this is a Starbucks. The official address is - 540 East Market St. - It's in a shopping center and offers lots of open parking and of course breakfast, which you may want to take advantage of since once we're out, it may be a little while before we see another place for food (lunch will be late, for sure).. Ask 'K' if she wants to come as well.. there should be a small group of folks.. running in two groups (mid level aggressive and more cruisin' speed). I'll see ya there! |

Blublak, K says thanks for the invite, but no thanks - too long. I took her out on a 60 mile course last week which was enough for her. I need to keep her trips short for now. She still needs work on her throttle control (from a stop), keeping her balance during slow maneuvers and stopping on uneven surfaces. She got a lot out of the MSF course and she's definitely more confident. She's also more comfortable with her bike than at first, but going from a Nighthawk to an XB9 is a big leap. She's is doing well and I'm proud of her. Slow and steady... |

Seems like all of the good stuf went on today but the weather sucked. I'll be leavin out near Rt 70 park and ride. Just a short stress relief ride no big speeds or knee dragin, just a cruise still gettin used to the tuber. I'll check the forum before leavin. |

Just got back from our ride today, literally. Thanks Blublak & BumbleBuell for putting together a most excellent ride full of twisties, awesome scenery, and an all around good time. I can't wait to see the pics from those of you that brought cameras. Cereal, I hope you made it home all in one piece. Let's see how next weekend goes... |

Ramon, it was a good day riding.. with a few low points.. Hmmm.. One was Cereal having his little get off.. and of course, BumbleBuell getting that love note from the county cop (ouch!) .. My thanks to everyone that came out to make it a good days ride. I hope some of you get a chance to ride those roads you missed, there were a few good ones.. Just ask the rest of the folks that ran them.. Until the next time! |

Someone got stopped? That sucks. Shane and I didn't see a cop all day. Bikes fine. No major mechanical issues. Biggest money items will be the fairing support bracket and the gear case cover. I just posted to T9R who is parting out his 9R. Anyone know another parts bike if he's out? Great to meet everyone and sorry to hold up the show during my mud bath. I think the waiver was bad juju! |

Pictures, someone said pictures?
Lovely group, here's the reason we were stopped at this particular location.
when you see a fork in the road, take it.
Pete had to modify the route due to time constraints, but the roads we did do were awesome! Great job Pete/Robin.
We were talking about what makes up a great ride and a memorable one. A ride when the roads and weather are great and nobody gets hurt and everybody has a great time is a great ride. A ride when: A) Someone goes down trying to decide which way to go at an intersection B) Someone gets a speeding ticket C) Someone drops their bike in a parking lot, then the same person's bike gets bumped into by an old lady backing up her car later on D) When we finally decide to go eat based on the recommendation of a local we find that the place has JUST closed right as we got there. E)The place we do end up eating is a Pizza Hut with one waitress and one cook in the kitchen. When A, B, C, D or E happens individually, you remember that kind of stuff. When they ALL happen in one day, THAT'S a memorable ride. Let's do it again sometime..... (Message edited by josé_quiñones on October 09, 2006) |

Pete, I'm all for doing it again, you know some killer roads (no pun intended), and the pace was one I enjoyed and felt comfortable with. K's bike performed well, it needed a good run to get the juices flowin'. Aside from the buzz I hear from those LRB's...I get it on both bikes, not sure what to say about that...they work remarkably well despite the buzzing. We clocked in @ 256 miles for the day and by the time I got home the bike felt ready to go plenty more, couldn't say the same for the rider - I was beat! |

I'm gonna try this again, sorry I didn't check my email before I left on Sunday. This upcoming weekend I would be interested in going for a ride anywhere between Baltimore (Rt. 70 park and ride) and points west. I'm looking for decent twistie backroads to head out on at a comfortable pace, no knee draggin but I don't want to get passed by a vespa either. If anyone is intereseted and has a route in mind please reply. I will be diggin into mapquest to find something a little more fun than the Frederick Rd route I took on Sunday. |

Bullseye, When are you thinking of heading out? We will have our monthly meeting Saturday. We usually ride before the meeting. Frederick Co has descent roads but they are often short. Let me know. |

I just notice that it should rain Sunday, so Shane and I will certainly ride somewhere on Saturday. We could ride on our own, or closer to where ever your meeting is. We are getting sick of the ride to skyline on 66 anyway. I posted my learning experience in the quick board if anyone wants to go make fun of me. |

I was just kickin the idea around I didn't have any specific time in mind. I usually just head out when my son takes his nap in the afternoon. If you guys are gettin together sooner I would be up for a morning ride down some short roads. I live about 40 mins from Frederick so I would be highway'd out by the time I got there. I'm still pretty new to street riding so I don't feel real comfy riding too far from home (VA, PA, Western MD) Around Frederick would be ok, there are backroads all the way home to keep the right hand from gettin to heavy. I'd be pretty open to suggestions. |

Bullseye, What part of Baltimore do you live in? I'm just east of Towson, so going up to Frederick is usually a trek for me, (not that I'm complaining, but I usually have to slab it most of the way, cause my ass is still in bed). I know of a few good rides going up into Baltimore and Harford county. Ras, I'm iffy on this weekend for the weekend, As I said in the email, I am cheering on a few friends at the Baltimore Marathon. All, Idea for a ride (though it may be chilly). Punkin' Chunkin on the eastern shore is on NOvember 3-5. HD of Seaford (Buell dealer) and Rehobeth are both sponsors. I just came from that area, and while there aren't many twists past the bay bridge, it is very scenic. (www.punkinchunkin.com) Also, My parents got the two wheeled bug and bought some old honda cruisers. My dad has an 81 CB650S. Problem is we can only start it with a roll start or jumping it from a live battery (his is fresh too). any suggestions as to why the electric start wont work? Moy |

haha, my first bike was an '81 CB650C. I picked it up out of a barn for $300. I got lucky though: the starter button worked like a charm after a carb cleaning, new plugs, wires, and battery. IIRC from the CB650 forums, the ignition coils were the weak link in the electrical chain. But im not sure if thats whats causing your problems. Bad terminal on the new battery or a bad connection to the starter? its probably going to be tough to tell exactly which 27yr old wire and/or connection is causing the problem. Good Luck! |

Midi9 I live about a minute away from the park and ride at the very end of Route 70. Technically its Gwynn Oak but its got Catonsville Manor signs everywhere. I only chose Frederick cause of the amount of roads that leave my area and end up out that way. The only roads I know north of me is the Shawan Road back way to Hanover PA. Like I said I'd be down for a ride wherever I just want to get out while the weather is good. I don't mind goin it alone but I would like to see some different things. We took my daughter to punkinchunkin last year and it was a blast. I don't know about ridin over while the fam follows but if your gonna get a ride together I'll prob be there on 4 wheels. |

My first bike was an 83 honda VT 750. It too had starter/starting problems, then it had chipmunk or squirrel problems (I never determined which rodent made a home of the engine block), that's when I got rid of it and bought a Buell. As the years went on it would start fewer times, the electrical harness on it was something else. Fishing through all those wires would have taken a long time... |

Midi9 & Bullseye, I'm sorta North of you guys. Delta PA, but know both areas extremely well having lived and worked in both for 10 years. I would love to get together some weekend for a ride. I don't know any people out this way to ride with and would love to see some other Buells around. Let me know. Does the Frederick Chapter have a web page? I know Baltimore is trying to re-form. I will be heading somewhere this weekend even if its only until I can't feel my hands anymore. I'm not quite ready to put it away yet. Since weather is chilly I think I'll stay closer to home but if there are good roads in the middle, the more the merrier. Deltablue.......There are a ton of roads between me and the state line, I just don't know any. If you know any I would like to explore some. |

Bullseye, You're more than welcome to join us, I'll try to be at the dealership between 9:30-9:45. I have to stop by the music store, before we meet, I need a new bass amp and they're having a yardsale of sorts. -Ras |
