An interesting observation with regard to the cooling fan: Recently I installed a free flowing muffler on the Ulysses. During my Sunday morning ride to the Rock Store; I noticed that the cooling fan does not run as soon as it did with the stock muffler. I made it from Torrance to Santa Monica (21 miles) before the fan came on, 18 miles were on the freeway @ 70 mph. At about 22 miles I cycled the Engine Stop Switch. The fan did not run again until I started climbing up Latigo Canyon Rd, another 15 miles. However, once the fan starts running it did not shut off on its own, I have to cycle the ESS to fool the ecm. |

By cycling the ignition switch you are running hotter, more often and longer. I have experimented with a fan trip circuit that will trip the fan on any time the engine is above 356 F and it stays on until the temp drops to 356 F which is never with my stock ECM and scoops. |

Interesting experiment Davo. Do you have one big air scoop or two? Have you checked the engine temperature after the fan has been running for a while? |

Right now I am stock (both scoops) but there is a right side after market scoop in the mail as we speak! I am looking forward to some scoop testing!! If I remember right I was jumping the ET to ground with a 220 ohm resister. It worked so well that I am considering a fan trip switch for next summer unless I go in-line 4! Teeps, Sorry for not answering your question. My garage arrival temps with the stock equipment during the hot summer months was around 397F. Sometimes as much as 407F. I just received a CF right side scoop and I will do some arrival temps and make a report as soon as the rains stops and I can break away from work. |
