Border Raid is just about upon us and we still have to discuss the wants and needs of the collective. We could quite easily re-run last years route from Vancouver to Whistler, then tear up the Duffy Lake Road into Lillooet and onward to Vernon, Westside road and possibly stay in Kelowna. Kelowna is approx an hour from Penticton and would save riding back up to Kelowna on the following day as we make our way back to the Needles Ferry to our special little lunch spot. After lunch we would retrace our route back to Kelowna for another night. Final day could see us all riding highway 33 through Rock Creek to Ossoyoss and then home. Any thoughts? FunJimmy |

Well I got word today my "family reunion" for laborday has been canceled so it sounds like Im free for Border Raid. I want to finish my break in and first check up before then, ah I got a month shouldn't be a problem. Pete, ended up driving down to Oregon today, I'll stop by in the morning. Josh "Fuy" |

Just a note.... last year we skipped Whistler altogether and all met up in Penticton. That was our base for the 2 nights. Was great fun, but that hotel was F-N expensive. Oh... on another note. My Beemer was a write-off. No bike, No border Raid, No Fun. You guys are on your own, hope you have tons of fun for us too! |

The party at Citta in Whistler is always outstanding. I guess the question is do we want to pack our gear on the ride or do day rides from Kelowna. We do have to get some decisions made so that we can find a hotel. I vote for Whistler and the Duffy Lake Road. Actually I'm taking a mental health day tomorrow. I have to reset the work exhausted brain so I'm going to ride up to Whistler, the Duffy Lake Road and back through Boston Bar and Hope. I'll let you know how it goes. Harv |

OK OK UNCLE! I went to go on my ride today and the exhaust hanger bracket broke again. I drove straight over to Western Powersports and took a new black speed triple for a test ride. It was so.......not broken! The triple was tres cool. It was brand new so I couldn't really twist it. It's also a lot of dough considering they only offered me $4500 for the X1. Well I can't afford one yet but that is my next bike, no question. |

Harv, Eric and I where mulling over the Border Raid agenda last night while tipping a few wobbly pops and thought that meeting in Whistler on Friday night for a little socializing would be a great way to start things off. Saturday we would head north on the Duffy Lake Road to Lillooet and then stop at Horsting Ranch in Cache Creak for lunch. After lunch we could work our way to Vernon to connect with the Westside Road into Kelowna. Motel in Kelowna for the Saturday and Sunday nights. Sunday we could run the road to the Needles Ferry and cross Arrow Lake for lunch as we did last year. That leaves Monday for a casual ride to Penticton, followed by Green Mountain Road and a shotgun goodbye as we continue home. Now all we need to do is provide lodging options. Is this OK for everyone? Cheers FunJimmy |

Oh you guys that sounds soooooo good! We'll be there in spirit. As for Horsting Farm, they have added on to the covered picnic area behind the "restaurant" so there should be some nice shade to rest and rejuvenate for the entire group... if not the little playground/picnic area we took over last time. You may even want to call ahead that day to see if they'll reserve some spots for ya. Here's the number: Horsting Farm (250) 457-6546 Happy Riding Buds! Love Lo |

Ron The dates of Border Raid are September 1st - September 4th, Labour Day Weekend. If you can make the dates, your welcome to join us. It's a real great time with a great bunch of friends. Chuck The reasoning behind hubbing in Kelowna was based on the fact that Saturday is a long day and some of the riders are pretty beat by the time we reach Kelowna. Secondly, If we stay in Penticton we ride up to Kelowna on the Sunday anyway, so Kelowna seemed like a natural. What we need to work out is lodging options in Kelowna. Kelowna also boasts a wider range of dining options, Casino, Pubs and a Strip Club for Deb. Keep your Penticton Reservation for now and we will post more as info becomes available. What does the collective want to do? Stay in Kelowna or Penticton? FunJimmy |

Ok, So this is how I'm hearing it, Whistler Friday night (Party) Duffy Lake road Saturday with lunch at Horsting Ranch. After lunch making our way to Kelowna (Need Motel Info) and basing the ride there for Saturday and Sunday nights. No sense going to Penticton only to return for the main rides basing from Kelowna. Is this Correct? Loni a 400 mile day is a snap (You can do it)!! Don, go to a place that sell's motorcycles and buy one ...er two. They have the easy payment plan ya know. Hope your feeling better. Send Lo, she can show some leg er some cleev maybe get a better deal. I currently am suffering from 3 broken ribs and feel like shat. Last weeks football game in the Tri Cities was rough. Ihad to ride home 4.5 hours with my leg stuck out to the side so it was barable. More later, MOTEL INFO !!! Jimmy, Nice job on the Hoose. Harv, Bite the bullet and join the Dark side. It's so Bright! "OK, How about the Sandman Kelowna, Rooms from 96.00 and an indoor pool. Also has the Largest mall in the Canadaland." According to the Sandman's website, they are booked Friday through Monday and have no rooms available. Sorry. I'm trying to negotiate time off and a hall pass from the wife. I'll let you know if I can make it. Ron Ulysses in Seattle |

I sent emails to several of the hotels in Kelowna to check on availability. Apparently the US is invading Canada for Labor day weekend. Just as a placeholder, I used a value of 6 rooms for the nights of Sept. 2 and 3. The only response that wasn't accompanied by a "Dear John, We are sorry" letter was from Days Inn with a rate of $119. I'll probably get a few more responses tomorrow. Maybe I shouldn't have said I was looking for rooms for a gang of motorcyclists. I'll keep you posted. Ron Ulysses in Seattle |

Bob Good to have you back. What's this talk about broken ribs? You pull'n a Don on us........sorry Don! Ron Thanks for the help locating lodging. Seems Kelowna is a whole lot more popular that Penticton. I just spent over an hour on the phone and came up with the same rooms as you. Maybe Penticton deserves another round of us, EH! I have messages in with the group bookings people at the Lakeside Inn and the Ramada in Penticton. Most of you know how nice the Lakeside is and the Ramada is really nice too. It's a little way from the Lakeside and about a block from the lake, but it is quite new and has a great pub/bistro. Both locations have 10+ rooms available for the Saturday and Sunday nights. I'll post group rates and phone numbers tomorrow. Cheers FunJimmy |
