Performance Harley-Davidson of Syracuse NY lost a sale and ANY business from me today.

They have a "ride in / ride out" policy. That means unless you ride a bike in, you can not test ride a bike out. I sold my bike about a year ago, so I do not fit into their plan.

I asked the sales manager (Hal) to talk to the owner about a waiver. I have been riding for 12 years, and sold my bike before I moved to NY.

The sales manager said he talked to the owner every morning. That was almost 2 weeks ago. I called 4 times since then to find out if a test ride was approved or not. I never got an answer.

Today I was in Syracuse for the day (about an hour from my house) so I stopped in to see if I could take a ride. Very unprofessional service, poorly laid out store, display bikes were not clean, the whole package just was not right. (Oh and the battery was dead in the XB9SX)

Sales guy called the owner, finally after 2 weeks and 5 phone calls from me. Still no joy. Since I said I rode an XB9 a few weeks ago, and an XB12 recently, (both at different dealers) they nothing would be different. My point of this dealer is they have both an XB9SX and XB12S together. No other dealer in the area has both, and I rode them a few weeks apart. I want to ride both at almost the same time so I can really feel the difference.

Weeks ago, the XB9 felt underpowered, and recently the XB12... I did not really notice much difference in the power, not to mention the head shake when decelerating, and the extreme vibration. I think the XB12S I rode was not a good example, even though it only had 5 miles on it (2005 model)

I'd like to ride the 9 first then the 12. Why is that so hard.

It stinks that the closest dealer to me is such a joke. That means I’ll be buying either an hour west, or two hours east. The dealer in Rochester and the one in Utica were both courteous, and clean.

Syracuse NY Performance Harley-Davidson sucks, don't waste your time for anything there.

Not that you need anyone to back you up on this Coastie, but I too have had nothing but BAD experiences with Performance HD/Buell.

They are obviously selling a ton of Harley's as evidenced by the 50,000 sq ft expansion they are doing, but they have ZERO interest in anything Buell.

Although they are considerably further away from you both Utica HD/Buell and Southern Tier HD/Buell in Binghamton have treated me pretty well.

New Jersey is not out of the question, either : ) And we'll have the Buell demo truck at our open house on September 23rd. You can ride as many as you like, and get a bite to eat, too. But if you must get on one in a hurry, then Daves has the inventory to get you on both bikes in succession.

Wow! I never thought, outside of Atlantic City, someone would mention coming to NJ for a vacation! LOL! I guess we're doing something right. If you do decide to make the trek down, you can reach me, or Ryan or Anthony in sales. We're all more than happy to help.

Oh, and I forgot. Another thing about Performance Harley-Davidson of Syracuse

The $500 across the board price reduction for the Buell line did not apply, and that was even for the two 2005 bikes they had left.
No other dealers in the area are this bad that I have seen.

Bought a Blast at Binghampton H-D, the lady owner waited on us and was very nice. The oil sending unit leaked from day one. I called the service dept. numerous times to get the part. They insisted that I bring it in for that warrenty repair. I told them I was not trucking the bike 200 miles round trip for a $5.00 part. After much heckleing they agreed to send me the part........But they never did. Southern Tier Buell, not that great either.

I have visited the Rochester dealer twice, they have bikes on the floor but thats it. I asked them if they were Buell friendly in case I ever need service on my XB9. They said they were and were very nice, they were also nice when I took a whole crew to do test rides for the Buell sling bag give away.

Classic Harley Davidson from Reading Pa. just bought our local H-D dealer in Corning NY. I think they plan on a new store and hopefully the Buell line too. Classic is a big Buell dealer and backs a race team too. Im keeping my fingers crossed on this one.

I bought my bike @ utica Buell and have gotten warranty work done there. No complaints. They are very light on buells right now (I think they just have an S and an SS left), at least they did when I was there a week ago sunday. They are open on Sunday and do service on sunday also which is nice. I also get service done at Brunswick HD/Buell, which is closer to my office than Utica. So far no real complaints about them either. Not sure on how many buell's they have left either as I didn't notice when I picked the bike up from its 5K service last week.

I bought my Buell at Utica and recommend another friend to them. Both of us had great experiences and even with the long drive from Buffalo, NY. I would drive all the way out there again to buy a bike. Talk to Bob Hebert. If not call Dave in Appleton he has treat me great even though I ended up buying my bike elsewhere.

I bought my bike at Brunswick but I don't really like the attitude from their service guys so I brought it in for it's only service so far to UTICA HD/Buell and they were so nice and answered my 2 page list of questions/concerns (first Buell ever so not sure what to expect) and was awesome in my 1,000 mile price with everything switching over to Syn3 for $180 after taxes. The tech that worked on my bike was a super nice guy too and helped me load it on my truck and strap it down and said how much he loved the Buells and wished more would come in. A+ in my book!

Hmmm.... I must say that Performance's service department is great. And they do make some attempt at having a Buell available for the demo day. However, the sales floor does lack in the Buell dept. Usually only two XB's at any one time, parked just outside the front door. But, let's face it, it IS Syracuse after all. Most of their money comes from the fellas that'll get razzed for not riding "A REAL BIKE". Obviously not different in every sense.

I had a similar experience. I was looking at the same Buell's your were looking at. The sales person that talked to me had no ideal about the bike. She just read the label on the bikes. Not interested in a Harley as my everyday bike. I would like one to look cool in my Driveway someday. In my opinion they looked at it like it was taking up Harley floor space. I will be buying else ware as well.
What do you do when you don't like the sales person that first comes out to you? Can you ask to speak with someone that has more Knowledge?

I hope I'm not hijacking this thread but since there seems to be quite a few upstate riders chiming in, I think it might be cool to set up a ride sometime this summer. Maybe in the Adirondacks. I'm way up in Canton but I don't mind heading South. I know Doon heads up this way sometimes.

I wouldn't mind a nice run up 30. I do work with some people in Potsdam, and am going to be going up that way later on in the summer. But a 400 mile day isn't out of the norm for me, so if you want to meet up some time, let me know.

Think that Buells get no respect? Try Quaid in Loma Linda CA.

Skip Fordyce in Riverside is a little better but not much. The one guy there that liked the Buells got hit and is not around anymore.

Glendale HD has actually had a belt, clutch cable and a footpeg in stock. They seem to like them. They are a three hour+ round trip for me.
