I did a search on this board for the experiences regarding a race ecm, versus new Drummer system versus the K&N air filter. It seems like there is a great deal of information spread over a lot of territory and what I would like to know is this-What is the best for just handling the low end surging/stumbling? I do not need more sound, I do not need more power. I only have 150 miles on the bike so I have also read that over time and after the engine has fully broken in this anaomly seems to vanish. I would just like a little smoother throttle. I even read that just doing the adventure sportbike air box fix is all it takes, or just the race ecm or just the Drummer or any and all of the different permutation of the above variables. I am a convert and am moving UP from a GL1800 Gold Wing to the Uly. The difference reminds me of that betwen riding in my uncle's old plush big buick and driving a sports car.I had forgotten how much fun it was to actually ride/drive a motorcycle versus just ride one. I am not looking for the smoothness of that Honda opposed 6, just a better throttle control down low. Thanks Paul |

>I am not looking for the smoothness of that >Honda opposed 6, just a better throttle >control down low. That's easy, just don't use the go slow part of the throttle |

you have a couple choices - all were covered in your TFI thread.. race kit - if you can still find one. Race ECM filter and aftermarket exhaust - most likely have to get a map made. stock exhaust and ecm with a map.. there is no cheap majic bullet other than not lugging the motor at low RPM's.. MB |

Sorry but I have to disagree with that statement. My Uly has no stumbling or lurching at low engine RPMs. Works dead smooth at 2000 RPM. If you are running the engine slower than that you are lugging it. My bike is dead stock doesn't ping and gets 50 mpg (US) 2 up. So something is not right with some of these bikes or the people working on them. |

From the Drummer Team: The Regular Drummer (made from your can), the Drummer SS, and the new Drummer CF all run great on the XB9 and XB12 series bikes with just the Buell race ECM and a K&N filter. Call Kevin: www.kdfab.com |

From the Drummer Team: Jerseyguy, how about you guys making up your mind. ... Kevin sent me a 12 and a 9 to map do you / he still want them done? ... I was planning on giving up my Sunday to start the 9 on Al's bike and have it finished on Monday. ... I think that the shoot out showed that there are several good choices and Kevin's is one of them, I know I was impresed. ... Why can you guys let people ask questions and get answers here other than "runs great on the XB9 and XB12 series bikes with just the Buell race ECM and a K&N filter" Yes the Drummer does but it as well as any other run better with a little tuning. ... No one here has said anything bad about Kevin's mufflers, but when one of us post about sone D/L improvments all we hear from some of the "Team" members is "Just install a Drummer no tuning required. " ... Terry (Message edited by buelldyno_guy on July 09, 2006) |

I have a XB12 with a Drummer and KN filter. I am waiting for Terry/Al to sell a DL map for this application. I sure hope they follow through with their plans. I know first hand how much the DL can improve on the race ECM (see dnyo chart/red race ECM purple DL ECM). I had driveability issues due to AFV creep so I am not running the DL ECM currently but most certainly will when I get a American Sport Bike map. Frank

As soon as I finish the XB9 Drummer I am going to install the XB12 Drummer on my ULY and start mapping. ... Right after F/X and Moto GP at Laguna I hope. ... Terry |

Yes we have. Check the following thread I hope I answered your "surging" question there: What happened with this thread - Ulysses Surging: Who Wants a Map?} |

The dyno chart above would seem to confirm my suspicion that the engine is lean in the 1.5 to 2.5k rpm range... Buelldyno-guy are you saying that this area of the map cannot be adjusted? (Message edited by teeps on July 10, 2006) |

Why would you be concerned about WOT operation below 2500 rpm? Roll the throttle open from such low rpm, right? |

Blake, there are several times when you need to roll the throttle and find your self below 2500, We used 200 -2500 for the shoot out, but Kevin's XB12 Drummer pulled from 1500. Due to the cams we use 2500 -3000 on a race bike when it's on the dyno. Teeps Yes I would think the chart above is a little lean down low. We have more of an issue with a rich spot down there due to Accell table value. ... Another issue in using D/L to tune Buells is that the cells in Closed Loop need a value to keep the A/F at 14.7 and a good transision value into Open loop at 13.5 A/F. ... Terry |
