Has anyone found a fender eliminator for the ULY that is being made other than the one advertised by Trojan Horse? When I was washing mine the other day, I tore off the light cover for the license plate with a towel so easily that it almost seemed like it was broken at the screw mount before I touched it. So I figured I would see if anyone has made some mods that look good before investing in a POS plastic piece that is going to break again. |

Probably was already broken. This is a common problem. They will replace it with the new tougher design under warranty I think. Mine broke also. I thought I must have bumped into something so I just bought a new one. Haven't seen any fender eliminator kits for the 12X yet. |

Already replaced mine, paid the 6 or7 bucks rather than even going the warranty route, but I'm also still wondering if this one will last. Mine literally fell off on a ride one day never to be seen again. Wasn't washing it, touching it, or toweling it... Just real brittle looking plastic in my opinion. Hopeful they'll replace them someday with something that has at least a little elasticity. |

Hopefully somebody will make a slick kit to get rid of all that ugly plastic crap soon. We need something that is compact, flexible, impact resistant and doesn't break and fall off like a potato chip if you touch it (the stock piece). |

The only one that I had seen was the Trojan Horse model--which doesn't seem too nice. I just thought with all the fender eliminators that are out there that we some kind of selection. Well, atleast I am not alone in breaking it so easily. |

Cyg, where's your license plate? Where are your turn signals? It doesn't look legal but I like it a lot. |

The license plate is tucked under the tail, and no signals. But havnt yet had a problem, and even took it to Baja and rode around San Diego. |

Excellent topic! I was hoping that Odie would have hiself a Uly by now and come up with a solution. Gotta make some changes on the front too. G2 |

If only I could talk the wife into it!! I sat on a Uly in Dothan with a lower seat on it and I was still a little tipsy on my toes (5'9"). Seat felt comfy though! If someone around me had one I could work on some stuff. No such luck..... |

A fender eliminator kit on a Uly? Just go buy a "Rice Rocket", then you can have a wide selection! Oh, also wear your hat backward, you want to be cool, no? |

QUOTE: Oh, also wear your hat backward, you want to be cool, no? Why not just wear your helmet backward? You could start a new trend. (A short lived one!) |

I just figured that there would be something out there that would clean up the DOT (read reflector and size) look of the rear that some of the bikes have. Not really eliminate the upper totally. |

I am looking for the same thing Wolf. May see how much the stock piece is and order it and see if I can cut/modify it to look cleaner/shorter. I still want to run blinkers, license plate light, though they will be aftermarket. |

Take some pictures as you go along for those of us who might want to do the same thing, even if some of your ideas turn out to be goofs. |

The license plate light fixture that broke on my rear fender cost $7 to replace the whole unit. And the replacement is a different looking plastic, different size and includes the bulb and wiring too. I think maybe they saw this was going to have some issues and are selling a better unit. |

I kinda gotta agree with Dragon Slayer here... it is completely a matter of opinion but the Uly looks like it SHOULD have a huge narsty fender on it. Why remove it? Its not like removing the fender will make it look better. Please dont flame, just stating an opinion. The Uly is motorcycle crack. Just a test ride has me hooked. |

I just washed my license plate light off too! Good to hear they're improving the replacement part. None available in Canada right now but I crazy glue'd the part back together for now. Lots of cracks around bolt holes on the plastic. Either torqued on too tight at the factory or just too brittle to survive the vibration. Cheap part at least. Still, shouldn't be breaking in the first place without reason. |

Mine fell right off with no provocation. It is made of cheap brittle plastic with no impact resistance whatsoever. Put it back on with superglue. |

The dealer should order you a new, udated part, as this is a pretty common warranty item. Mine was barely hanging in there when I pointed it out to the dealer. I was going to J-B weld it but thought WTF! That's why I bought I new bike. I thought I would get some grief for complaining about my rusted muffler and broken triple tail latch, but both were ordered under warranty. |
