Sorry if this has been covered previously, but I tried the search and found no match.

My recently purchased 2001 X-1 has PM wheels, but they are the non-slotted variety. Most that I have seen are slotted.

What difference (if any) is there between the slotted and the non-slotted PM wheels?

Thanks,

Boiler

The slotted ones are the earlier versions

the oldest tubers having pm wheels have 4 spokes and they have slots in them ,

then the 3 spoke with a slot these IIRC are "straight"

then the 3 spoke no slot, these are the last varient of the pm produced.

Boiler, a last thought before performing any maintence on your pms' ( wheel bearings )
you might want to peruze the KV on wheels
the PMs are no longer made and there are bearing removal issues to be aware of
