A word of warning, I scraped the shifter while deep into a corner and it pushed the tranny into a false neutral between 2nd and 3rd. Kind of scary when you roll on the throttle to lift the bike out of a corner and it only revs.

Here's a good one of my 2000 S3 from yesterday:

blimp

My wife and I rode a ~325 mile loop from Summerville, SC to Augusta, GA (we dropped in on the HD/Buell dealer who had two Uly's on the floor). On the way home through the small town of Walterboro, SC, we look over and there floats the Goodyear blimp, so we scooted over to have a look. The airport in Walterboro has gained fame in recent years because it's where the "Tuskeegee Airmen" of WWII fame did a lot of their training.

The former Walterboro Army Airfield is important to me because my Dad helped build it.

For those of you who have the corbin gunfighter and lady seat do you like it better than the stock one? I am going to ride to laguna seca this summer and am considering a new seat.

Keep em coming guys (and gals if there are any reading this). The fairing bags actually cleaned up pretty damn nice, I'm sure I could get good money for them on e-bay, but will stick to my promise!
Not sure when to end this, but out of all of the thousands of S3's made, I'm sure we can a few more shots right?
Besides, it gives me an excuse to keep posting pictures of mine (you know, just to keep it going ;)) This is from Saturday.

Bandirola:

I like the Corbin much better than stock. It is firm when new, but is much more supportive. The foam on the stock seat wears pretty quickly. The Corbin takes some adjustment to fit well. (front tab bending) I also like the angle of the seat, you are less prone to slide forward under harder braking.

Bandirola,

One point about the Corbin seat I've heard from several people- the rider's seating area is about an inch or so further back than the stock seat. Some people like this but for others, it makes the reach to the handlebars too long. The stock seating position is right at the limit for a comfortable reach for me, so I opted not to get a Corbin.

In lieu of getting a Corbin, I picked up an extra standard seat and sent in to get it reworked Sargent seats in Jacksonville, FL a couple of weeks ago. I'm getting it recovered and getting their "supercell Atomic foam" added front and rear. I'll post pics and a report here when I get it back (hopefully in 3 or 4 more weeks).

Thanks for the info whodom, I am close, if not at the limit with the stock seat and lower bars of the S3 too.
I will probably end up modding a 2nd seat myself, but what is Sargent charging?

Scott,

I think it's costing me about $250 to get upgraded foam front and rear, have the "rise" moved forward 1 inch, and get a new "Griptex" textured cover. They have a complete price list for options on their site. I picked up an extra seat on ebay a year or so ago for about $50 so I wouldn't be without a bike while they work on my seat.

I had them redo a seat for my 83 Honda Ascot a few years ago and it was a big improvement.

Ran fine. That was a Thunder in the Mountains in '01, the pic was taken on our way to Mt Evans (14,000+ ft?). Last weekend in June, we got a several inches of hail while up on top.
EFI fan fine the whole time but something (I'll assume an air-bubble) cause my rear brake to quit working over about 13,000 feet, making the descent in the hail an adventure.
This was the ride when Al of American Sport Bike got attacked by the mountain while on his S3.

I'm trying to find other S3 photos, but I think the best ones were never scanned (pre-digital camera days). I do have a ton of magazine/marketing shots tho.

I use my digital camera, tripod and natural light (no flash) to take pictures of pictures. I've been able to save rapidly decaying family photos this way and the result is amazing!
With small pictures you are only using a portion of the scanning bed and not getting many pixels. When I take a picture of the picture I get the full 5mb of picture. When I enlarge the picture sometimes I pick up details in the original shot that you could not even see before. Try it!

Thanks, Scott. I bought my bike from
DaveS. He had it listed on the internet and I bought it from him based only on the pics and his good word. I drove five hours to go get it by myself, then he loaded it up for me and I was the happiest girl in the world.
IMO, the S3 is 1 part comfort and 1 part bad ass--perfect!
Oooh, too bad I didn't read the first page of the thread--I could have rearranged some clothing for the contest! Hmmm...

It's never too late Trish- repeat entries are encouraged, nay- required! : ]
In a modest way, and however
unintentional (yeah right : )) you have already followed my suggestion though, thanks! ;)
