I was thinking about tying some of those little streamers on the fan (the kind that they used to put on fans in the Department Stores during hot weather sales. It would have to be a quick-release mechanism so I wouldn't melt them on the pipes during operation. Naw...........bad idea |

Maybe this guys was the one who decided to fan cool the Buell. He seems to like fans. LOL!

I also ride trials bikes, and those little water cooled 2 and 4 strokes have cooling fans-the one on the GASGAS I used to ride was much louder than my Uly's and the one on my new Montesa(honda) is about the same level...... |

Took the metal screen off the fan today to see if it would help quiet the thing down.. No change in noise level. I think I'll try some stick-on vibration dampers on the blades next. Kinda like the little doinkers they put on bows. If that doesn't work I'll shave the blades off. Would that void my warranty ? |

Fan noise....could not care less. I guess I am kind of like my uncle and the bird dogs tail. After coming up behind the dogs on point, one of the guys said he did not like the fact that the one pointers tail was not properly up in the air. My uncle said "I don't care if his tail is stuck up his ass, as long as when he stops there are birds in front of him". Guess we are kind of a minimalist family, cause as long as the fan is doing the job the noise just does not bother me. Heck, I'm too busy thinking about the fun I just had to think about the fan when I get off. Best to all, Greg |

The irony is that noise is an issue to motorcyclist if it isn't from the exhaust! Remember, noise is just vibration at an audible level. It is not too loud, it is just that you can hear too good. |

Some noise sounds good, it's enjoyable. It adds to the experience. Some noise just sounds like a freaking hair dryer. |

Loud fans save engines. Loud exhausts get overly restrictive laws passed. The avalanche has started; the first few pebbles are rolling past. Soon, it will be illegal to modify an exhaust in any manner whatsoever. I would like to thank all the Lifesavers with their straight pipes who helped make this turn of events inevitable. |

I like the hair dryer comment, so true. The fan sounds ridiculous and frankly, I think you all know it. |

I don't know if I would say it sounds ridiculous it sounds, like a fan. Doesn't bother me in the least. You do know the fan is overkill. There is no way a Buell riden normally is going to overheat because the fan didn't come on. |
