Heading East and North on Highway 12 in Utah, you pass thru two arches before Bryce Canyon. One of the neatest places to stop.

Getting gas with ULY is easier. Gravel and hills are common when getting to the pumps on the less traveled roads.

This is about the highest point on Highway 12. GPS has it at 9800 feet. Nice to have running display of speed, altitude, time and distance from last fill on screen.

There was a bicycle rider ahed of vehicle but he made it around the corner before the photo. Made me seem somehow "whiney" complaining about cold and seat discomfort.

ULY home in Willmar, MN. 2,300 miles from LA.

What a long strange trip this has been. ONly failure were two zippers on my FXRG coat. ULY averaged about 44 mpg for the trip. Used next to no oil and the tires look real good yet.

Ferris, Court;

The low seat is on its way back to Buell. I left everything in the capable hands of this fine gentleman at Zylstras HD/Buell. Picked up a stock seat there. Fits me much better.

Paul,
Glad to hear you got back safely, thanks for the pics and the opportunity to be involved with another Ferris adventure. Didn't get to go as far as I had liked, but I can guarantee that YOUR Uly was the one and only motorcycle to ever roll out of the cornfield and onto the Field of Dreams (No, it's not heaven, it's Iowa), and Don Lansing dug the shit out of it. Hope to meet up with ya again sometime soon, MN isn't all that far away.

Those pics from CO and UT bring back a lot of memories from RANE. What great roads and scenery. I didn't have snow though.
We're headed to Deal's Gap this summer, want to put the Uly to the test? Take care, hope to ride again soon!

I haven’t been aboard the BadWeb in quite a while for reasons I shan’t go into, and yesterday I was looking for a vehicle to take me away for a while. I turned to the BadWeb, but not for an interactive experience; I just wanted to be around some friends for a while, both real and virtual. I had never stopped in to enjoy Paul and Jerry’s adventure and was able to do just that, enjoy it from start to finish in a couple of sittings. Your reporting, Ferris, and that of all the other participants, was well done. It was a great virtual ride, and I thank you all for getting me out of this space for a while.

And I learned a few things from it, as well. Like one must be very careful when tooteling one’s own horn, lest one be leaned on by a bigger and badder tooteler.

I see no filings on the floor. I think the Dremel was mentioned as an act of kindness to soften the blow.

Cap'n, great to see your post, thanks for the props, hope you're doing ok, your words leave me a little concerned...

as far as the tooteling one's own horn thing, i'm guilty as charged. one should walk softly (and quietly) and carry a big Dremel, i guess. : )

I've fallen into the same trap so many times, Jerry; I nearly jump up and down with glee when I see someone else join the club. Maybe I should have stuck a bigger smiley face in there. But I did get a big kick out of that little sequence, especially since it was amongst friends with no bad vibes attached.

You can’t judge a book by its cover, nor a man’s danglies by his face. And that includes noses.

(You can quote me on that one.)

What I want to know about is that guitar of yours. I couldn’t quite figure out from your post who that was sitting on the bed with it? But I see that he plays a similar style as I; sittin’ there grinning, hanging onto that big fat G chord. What about you? Got Calluses?

Cap'n, here's a copy of a post from another thread regarding said photo:

Pdx, so's that you know exactly who you're dealing with, here's the Bertman:

this was taken here at the 'Dome on Friday May 5th, while we were escorting Madduck thru Cali. that's my new Garrison that Bertman is holding.

the entire time i was posting pix that morning on BADWEB from the ride up from Bartels the day before, Bertman was sitting behind me, playing my guitar.

this was the first time i'd ever heard my Garrison. sure, i can twang on the strings, but i can't (yet) play a note. to FINALLY hear my guitar was absolutely mesmerizing. it has a beautiful sound, rich and warm, and it was with some reluctance that we finally slipped it back in its case so we could get on with the day.

Brett, thanks for the gentle serenade that morning. sure wish you lived a little closer, i'd hire you for some lessons.

and thanks for helping my buddy Jim. he's been like a brother to me, and it's quite cool that you two have finally "met."

ride to lean,
FB

the thread in its entirety is here:

nope, no calluses yet, but i got a fine guitar, and that's a start...

Yep, you bought the guitar, and yer talking about hiring instructors.

You figure out a way to buy some calluses, and you’ll be all set.

And that’s all I’ll say about that, so I’m gone.
