Ferris, Planning is shaping up for my trip to CA to get my ULY. Currently looking at the end of April or 1st week in May, depending on your plans. So far I plan on seeing a giant sequoia, death valley and ride some of old route 66 in California and Arizona. How is Fresno dealership for a tire change to get home on?? Have to get up to Boulder Colorado as my niece has threatened my life should I drive by again and not stop, would put in a smiley face here but her husband thinks she's serious. Take care and there is a package on its way to you. Paul |

Madduck, cool beans!!!! we're flexible on dates - make it work on your end, and we'll make it work on ours. i believe Fresno Buell to be a good dealer. from Fresno we can give you a guided tour of Kings Canyon and Sequoia Nat'l Parks (replicating a good portion of the last three Oktoberfast rides and day three of the BRAG California Touring Adventure from several years ago), and end up here at the ThunderDome, where it is mandatory you spend the night. the next morning we'd be honored to guide you to and thru Death Valley, on some mighty delightful roads. keep us posted (via this thread would be fine, but you've got my cell number). depending on your timing, we may be able to gather a few troops as you pass thru, to make the greeting and send off a little noisier. see you soon. FB - How may miles you got on that bike now? You are riding it enough to keep the battery charged right? |

Jlnance, the odo shows one more mile than when the trip ended, which translates to an occasional lap or two around the 'Dome to keep the bike limber. Al, maybe after Madduck takes possession? Unibear, hope you can make it, will keep you in the loop. EBear, you too.

FB - Wow. I assume thats because you are being nice and not running up the miles on Madducks bike. But I'm curious. I followed your trip. It looks like you enjoyed yourself and the bike. So you get back and don't ride the Uly anymore? Is your bike still fun? Is there an XB12X in your future? |

So you get back and don't ride the Uly anymore? once FBRAT was over it wasn't my bike to ride around anymore. it has stayed safe, warm and dry, keeping the FJR and SV company in the garage, waiting for its REAL master to arrive. FB |

Al, maybe after Madduck takes possession? Well, I guess that is the fitting end of the story, so to write it before then would premature. OK, we'll wait.

Ferris, Tentative plannig is for me to arrive late (11pm) in LA. I'll probably overnight near the airport and let you figure out when and where I meet you all and get the bike in shape for the run to MN. How was the seat, do I need to get a corbin from Al or Dave?? Starting to get excited over the trip. Route home will depend on weather in Rockies. Take Care Paul |

Take the southerly route and stop by Kilgore. |

Blake, You're almost in Lousiana. My southern route is likely to be I-40 and some of the more convenient seciton of route 66. Will probably turn north to run thru topeka. If weather is good will be running thru tonapah nevada and over to glenwood springs,co then Boulder to see my niece. I don't organize like Ferris, also not very reliable when I get on the road. Went to Ruidoso, NM on a three day weekend from Moline, Il in 97 with two friends who were training for an Ironbutt. didn't bother to document anything so couldn't get plaque. Ranks right up there with really stupid things to do. Having done something like that gives you a real appreciation for what people like Fran Crane and Mike Kneebone have done. Maybe we will run into each other at Homecoming. Take care and thanks for all you do for us here. |

Paul, so you've abandoned the idea of making a swing thru Oakland to visit family/friends while you're in the vicinity? do you have a firm date for your arrival at LAX? the seat on your Uly is fine. it's a prototype low seat from Buell, and is plenty comfy for repeated all-day stints. when you get home this seat needs to be returned to Buell, and Dave Stueve has your original. Ferris, I am trying to lock in my days off from work. Asked for may 3 to 10th, will know shortly. I can probably move it around pretty easliy within a few days of this if this is going to inconvenient. I figured I had to start somewhere. Sort of my theory of planning set up a target shoot at it awhile and make whatever changes are necessary. Sort of cool that Mike Kneebone has bought a Uly. |

we're flexible on dates on this end - the beauty of being self-employed - so ink the dates that work best for you, and we'll make 'em work on our end. i need to know for sure that you're flying into LAX and not Oakland. if it's LAX i'll take your bike to Bartels in Marina del Rey (instead of up to Fresno) for the service and tires. Bartels is a short taxi ride from the airport, and you'd be able to start your adventure ride home almost immediately upon landing. do you have a preference on the tires? FB |

Ferris, Dates are good on my end. NWA, my airline, is in bankruptcy and the pilots/stewardesses may be striking but I will be out there on the 3rd. I love it when a plan comes together. Bartels solves a lot of problems. See a little of the coastal highway on my way to a tall tree. Do you and D still want me to stop by your place?? I'll talk to Bartels about tires and such. take care and no my trip won't be epic. Have to find my camera again. I've been showing my nephews kids how to take pictures, three year olds are not as responsible as you would hope. Paul |

Ferris, Don't take the ULY too far till I can get you the 06 license tag. Minnesota motorcycle tags expire the end of February. I should have it out to you early next week. Thanks again for everything Paul |

PS...Madduck...I live only 10 mins from LAX and Bartels...so, if I can be of some assistance, let me know. Jerry is right on...Bartels is just a short cab ride from LAX. I do work during the day but can take 1/2 day off here and there. If U come in on Sunday, let us know and the locals can meet U for dinner. Scott |

Ferris, Yes sorry about that, starting to get my months jumbled as we arrange patient care at the hospital. I am the only one doing certain procedures and the backup person that was contracted is wholely inadequate according to the surg. staff. Nice to be needed but I would much rather be easily replacable Really starting to look like the weathers going to cooperate. Friend near Gunnison says all the passes on any of my routes are open, bring your own heat tho. Take care, and you should be getting something special any day now. Getting as reliable as Court. Have Bartels call me about any charges when you drop the bike off, I am thinking Scorpion syncs for tyres. Paul |
