Well, after waiting a few months to get my Uly, I got the good news that it would be in this week. I have the VIN number, got it insured, took two days off work to drive down and get it, the whole nine yards. Then I called the dealer to verify that it was indeed arriving this week. Low and behold...my VIN is not showing on the shipping paperwork. ARRRGH!! Looks like I'm waiting at least another week. Damn! Gotta cancel that time off request! Wish there was a way to tell where my bike is other than "in transit". If FedEx can track a tiny package, you would figure Buell could track a 500lb motorcycle. |

I feel for you Chad. The wait has got to be tough. I was lucky, I called my dealer and he had just gotten one in. I test rode it and they sold it that weekend. Called him back and he let me know they had one more left. It was mine, no wait. One more week hopefully. It will be worth it. |

I know it will be worth the wait, but it's mid November here. Last weeks 80+ degree temps have yielded to mid 60s. Winter is coming. A week longer wait, means a week closer to winter when the weather here is sketchy. Might have a 60 degree day followed by a 35 degree day. Just never can tell here in Tennessee. The bad thing is, the 60 degree days are usually when I'm at work staring out the window. |

Hey Chad, don't complain too much. Can you even say Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. We won't see much in the way of weather that is not freezing and tonight it is going down to -17 C which I am not sure what that is in F but it must be around 10 is my guess. |

Having had a devastating accident last April, which left me with a broken back and two broken ribs (among other things), I sort of promised the bride that I wouldn't ride until I was completely healed. She figured that would be a year. I caved to that. Then, when a Uly appeared at a shop seventy miles away, I cheated with the DR and rode over to test ride it. I crashed on the way in to the dealer's lot (loose gravel), which required another expensive trip to the hospital. Heheh. My bad. She understands my, uhm, fixation, so she's cutting me some slack and allowing a purchase on or about March 27th, but the wait is agonizing. I feel bad for you, but of course, I feel worse for me. Ouch...sorry about your get offs. A friendly bit of advice. NEVER promise the wife anything. When I had my last get off 4 years ago, I called my wife from the side of the road and told her I was giving up riding. I had a new bike 3 weeks later. |

Oh man...that's a haul! If I didn't already have a deposit down on mine and wasn't getting a stellar deal on it, then I'd have picked up the one I test rode back in September. Alas...my local shop was full MSRP + fees. Couldn't afford it. |

Chad, I noticed that you also have an FJR1300. When you get the Uly would you give us/me a review on how it compares? The biggest reason that I don't have an FJR now and I do have a Uly is that I couldn't find an FJR to sit on first. I presently own an older FJ1200 and still dig it even though she's a bit long in the tooth. So the "thought" pattern was that if the 1300 is an update along the lines of the original then it aught to be a great bike. But what can I say, Yamy is using the ordering system while Buell had one for me to look at/sit on/ride on/and ultimately buy. Can you say "trumped?" Steve |

Try wanting one, but choosing to finish paying off what you have. |

One of my buddies has a new FJR1300. Can you say MOTOR? No, I haven't ridden it, but he's doing yeoman's work grinding the peg feelers to bits. We did almost 450 miles yesterday and the FJR has nothing on the Ulysses in the corners but it's got a lot of ponies under the cowl. I think they're good bikes, but I'll keep my Uly. <g> Regards, Jim in Santa Barbara |

I have the cart before the horse. I heard how long the wait was for bags so ordered them two weeks ago Thrusday and they came in last Tuesday. Great except my Uly doesn't get here until Janaury! At least I will be ready. |

Cataract2 I am buying one from Daves with the Ride the U.P. deal. You should take advantage of this opportunity too. We'd have that nice ride back to Florida to break them in. Frank |

Would love to FTD. Problem is I still have the XB9SX to pay off. We'll see how long I can hold off. |

"I have the cart before the horse." That is a good one. Finally, someone else in here with a sense of humor.

I sold the FJR to buy the Uly. I loved the FJR, but my 36" inseam needed more room. |

<sigh> Just talked to the dealer. Bike shipped yesterday, and won't be at the dealer until the day before Thanksgiving. Of course, I can't offend the family by ducking out on Thanksgiving to drive down to get the bike. Looks like I'll be leaving out the Friday after Thanksgiving and coming back on Saturday....with my new Uly!! |

WHen I custom ordered my '99 S3, it got held up during the Buell recalls of '99. I can understand how you're feeling Chad. I waited 99 days before it arrived. DAve |

Man...you guys have more patience that I do. When I bought my FJR, I refused to wait 6 months (to a year) for the bike. I snagged one from a dealer who'd had someone back out on the deal. I would have done the same thing with the Uly, but I don't have the cash on had to pay MSRP. I'm stuck waiting. Last week saw temps nearing 80, this week, lows dipping to the mid 20s with highs in the 40s. Just my bad luck. |

My bike was at the dealer for five days and I couldn't pick it up because the title hadn't arrived. Apparently Buell/HD ships the bikes and mails the title to make truck hijacking less convenient. Talk about a frustrating wait! |

Oh boy...if I drive down to Florida and they don't have my title and I have to come back without the bike, I'll be pissin' mad. |

I'd think a good salesman/dealership can get sales paperwork done without the title in hand. The dealer I purchased from (pillow talk and a one night stand) gave me the bike to ride home after I traded in my Tiger. I brought my own financing and they didn't have a check for a week. DAve |

That's good to know because I hear they execute murderers in Florida. So I'd hate to have to kill someone. (Message edited by chadhargis on November 17, 2005) (Message edited by chadhargis on November 17, 2005) |

It's in! It's in!! Just got the call from the dealer. My Uly arrived today and is sitting in the crate at the dealer. Sadly, I won't get down to pick 'er up until Saturday. Wow...it's going to be a LONG week. |

Chadhargis, My dealer also just called this afternoon to tell me that my black ULY was being un-crated. I pick mine up day after tomorrow (WEDNESDAY). I'm definitely pumped. |

Hey that's terrific Chad! Mike (Ocala) called me and offered me an extra one they have coming that's not spoken for. If you come through Birmingham, maybe stop and say hi. Barber's museum is here as well and there's no better way to spend all day Sunday. Nashville is just about 2.5 hrs from here. DAve |

Congrats on the new Uly's! Don't forget to have the dealer save your crate sides, they make great garage wall banners! Can't wait for mine to be shipped, loaded the Road Glide in the trailer tonite for its ride to the dealer for the trade. |
