does any one have pics of a chromed or polished xb? I plan to chrome and polish all the silver parts and needed something to look at objectively, get some ideas. |

Go under the bike classifieds and look at the XB for sale or trade for a Sportster. Look at the fellows profile for pics of his polished XB. |

A guy by the name of Brandon(mou5e) has started a chrome expedition maybe he will chime in soon. Or look at his profile maybe? J |

Don't do it! Chrome is the enemy! (j/k, do as you like of course it just ain't for me. Misato's bike is the most well-put-together i've seen on this board. lots of elbow grease in that b*tch for sure. bravo, my man.) |

Citified - how do you plan on removing the powder-coated paint on the frame? I would like to do the same, but i'm unsure on how to remove the powder-coat. Thanks. |

I wish everyone went with chrome since I went black on my bike! (Message edited by Olinxb12r on October 20, 2005) |

I was going to see if aircraft stripper would work on powdercoat. If not then lots of sanding my brother has a body shop, lots of tools at my disposal. |

If aircraft stripper wont work I doubt anything will thats some BADASS stuff. Just remember to wear THICK gloves even a drop of that stuff on the hand can cause a BAD burn. |

Here is one that I had in my photo folder. Everyone has there own opinion but I am done with the bling stuff- But thats just me, I still love the look but I rather ride instead of clean now. Cause I am still picky how my bike looks. I recomend going chrome instead of polishing much easier to clean |

Aircraft stripper works fine to remove the finish on the frame and swingarm. It is messy though. The frame is a fairly smooth surface after you remove the paint. It is a pretty easy polish job. The swingarm is a real pain. It is a rough surface and take some serious sanding before polishing. Have fun.

I've heard that sanding the welds on the frame may have negative implications on the warranty. Something about integrity. |

http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/norriesbuellxb9s/images/5-picture1.gif?0.876 309152704452 You don't remove the welds on the frame. I wan't to get my engine cases done next but was told you have to take the rockers off to take the tension off the cams so you can take the cam cover off. |

What is it with you guys (in the US) and chrome.......and while I'm at it what's the deal with noise as well.......? We're into subtlety and sophistication here in Europe............ Just kidding my ears bleed since I took the baffles out my muffler but it's worth it!! |

I didn't say anything about removing welds. I said that sanding them may void your warranty because it decreases the integrity of the welds. |
