Is it true that when an official dealer orders a part, he cannot return it and is stuck with it? Seems unreasonable to me ... |

Depends on the part, where it came from (ie aftermarket, vender direct or another dealer). Electrical parts can not be returned. Generally most places charge a 10% restocking fee or something like that. What are the circumstances here? Need more info. |

An XB9 airbox lid (the inner one). I ordered a xb12 lid, and while discussing the matter with the parts guy, I mentioned that I THOUGHT an 9sx lid was the same, and added I wasn't sure about it. He went ahead and ordered a 2003 xb9 lid (not even an sx lid). His fault and I didn't buy it, but he was trying to make me buy it by manipulating me and making me feel bad. He was also talking into me saying I ordered a 9 lid ... sure. I didn't loose my patience and handled the situation well and talked HIM into ordering the correct one. What struck me was that he said several times he was stuck with that part for the rest of his life because he couldn't return it. Not a big deal for the few bucks that it is costing him. But honestly I'm thinking he was lying and said that to supposedly make me feel bad for his own mistake. I'd like to know for sure before I condemn him to hell |

I'm told Ford parts departments must keep any and all parts they order from the factory. This is why they require at minimum a non-refundable deposit for special order items. You really can't blame them. |

Hate to say it but... a new part like that, ordered from the factory there shouldn't have been any problem. I would have expected the parts person to know the difference between a 12 and a 9 lid. Pre-05 everyone wanted the 12 lid for increased capacity. What year is your bike? 05 and 06 buells 9 or 12 air boxes are the same. And then there is the end of year returns... |

I really wasn't trying to rub it in Ing. They should keep part. They ordered it wrong They should've known what you wanted and why. They should get you the right one. The part number you want is P0215.1AA Give them the part number and then you'll get the right one. Of course, I have them in stock if you want one sent. I know on a part that is only 31.45 the shipping makes it hard to get it from me. |

if he is a good parts person, No he is not stuck with it. I think he kind of derserves being stuck with it for ordering the wrong part. |
