So sorry for all the similar pictures but I have a hard time deciding which is best representing Ferris's time in the Desert.I would be highly appreciative if anyone could mention the picture number they feel is OK.Thanx in advance!

Arriving at Nellis AFB, I was met by Josh and FMJ.
I was then escorted into the presence of the Great Ferris Bueller and the lovely (if somewhat exhausted) Denise.
While inspecting the bike at the center of all this fuss, I noticed someone wrote all over it.

Ferris has landed.
Madduck, nearly 4700 miles later your Ulysses is completely intact and fully functional.
and absolutely filthy.
the same, more or less, could be said of me.
LOTS to say, but for now: thank you to everyone who was a part of this epic adventure.
i'm off to the rain locker, then i'm gonna fall in love with Denise all over again, and grab some much needed sleep.

Reindog...I hope you don't mind me tweeking your photo just a bit.
Back in the early days of PACBOG Jerry was notorious for placing Buell stickers everywhere and anywhere he could during his adventures. Sorry my friend, I could not pass up the opportunity with this photo (wish I could have been there in person to actually do it even though I would have risked gettin smacked in the chops). Thanks for your posts from the road and I am very much looking forward to reading and seeing the adventure from your perspective. Rest now my friend it is much needed.

One last look toward Las Vegas as we ascend the mountains surrounding Death Valley.
The lowest point in the United States.
Don't watch me. Keep an eye out for the park rangers.
(Folks, they don't even allow dogs down here.)
Lone Pine offered a nice view of our next stop. Whitney Portal.
We're going there?
A glorious morning in Tehachapi. Man these things sure make a lot of wind.
Nothing like a little off-roading in the morning to wake you up.

Well, these photos might seem like old news now, but I hope some of you like them anyway.
WOW, how many curved wooden bridges have you ever seen, never mind experianced? Very Cool !
Nice turn out and interpretive signs right after that wild bridge.
And what is this? A BIG hole in the rocks. Man these guys were serious !
This sure shows how well this reflective stuff works !
This shot really shows just how rugged the inside of this hand hewn tunnel was. Look close and you can still see the smoke stains from the old Locomotives. (Sorry, still haven't figured out the rotating thingie.)
This shot is a bit less than flattering and "D" is prob going to kill me for it, but ya gotta admit it gives a whole new meaning to the old phrase "Mount Up Honey!"
I thought this was a good parting shot. A wave from out friends to "The Phantom Canyon" and your friend Tbear. See you in a couple weeks at Oktoberfast !!

Tbear, awesome shots with the reflective material. Just awesome. The one of D mounting the bike is worth printing and framing...excellent use of a camera. Hey, it is flattering of D...notice just how thin she is! Go D! And it also shows the power of the new LED light on the Uly. |

Corso, That has got to be my favorite so far!!! Most excellent.
T-bear, no worries. I've been caught in less flattering moments.
Scott, after MANY dismounts/mounts finally figured out it was easier for me to get on first and let FB do the acrobatics. Even with my 5'8", 34" inseam, it was a LONG swing to clear the bags, impossible in the contraints of the Stich. It was all good though. |

agreed Jim, especially since these tires still provide amazing cornering grip, even with 5k on them (actually drug both peg feelers yesterday!)

Hi Ferris, my experience with my S2 has me believing that most (all?) of the modern sporting type tires have plenty of grip to tickle the peg feelers. I've tried M-1's, BT-010's, BT-020's, D220's, D204/205 and now a Michelin thingy.
They're all good tires. But tire life? That's another story.
Dunlop did a nice job if you're getting 5k out of that rear tire. The front might get as much as 8k, eh?

tickling the feelers on Madduck's Uly was not easy, took me almost two weeks to pull it off.
in a perfect world the rear tire would have been replaced closer to 4k. the front tire will go 8k easy, maybe more.

Ain't that the truth. I have 2,500 miles on my 220s on the FZ1, and I'm trying to decide whether there's enough tread left on the rear for Oktoberfast.
On the other hand, the Michelin Macadam rear on the BMW is still hanging in there at 6K, though the front was gone at 4.5K.
