The Buelling Man is raring for his ride to ? in front of Joanne, Elizabeth, Laurie, and some old geezer who crashed our gig and started hitting up on my wife. Ride, Buelling Man, Ride! The Buelling Man almost immediately burned rubber. A burning wheelie. The Buelling Man has left us forever on his journey to ? Or has he? The transformation and the promise of the Buelling Man began to reappear. It was so startling that we had to put our fifth or tenth beer down to behold what was happening in front of our very drunken eyes. The spirit of the Buelling Man is set free. The Buelling Man abides! (Message edited by reindog on September 12, 2005) |

I headed out from Yuma, Az to meet up with Ferris and the group. I trailered there cuz no one likes to ride what we call the straight 8/I-8. Bartimus won't even ride the dern thing... Anywho, I stopped at the Carizzo Badlands overlook for some pics. Gratuitous shot of my ride included LOL! The camp site for the night after meeting up with FB is in the distant valley... The highway down there, S-2, is a hoot. Hard to believe this was all once forrested... I made it up to Julian and it was crowded with a lot of other bike traffic. This guy told me he almost bought a Buell but was worried about dealer network and this and that blah blah blah... His wife liked the bike though. He had to pull her away from it LOL! Listen to your wife dude! I promised I'd have a piece of the best apple pie on earth but as I was about to, guess who showed up... Hey Bart, it's the California version of the Happy Dance... I guess the happy dance varies by state...LOL! Eliz (XB9gRl) greets the B"Uly"ing man. The Uly is looking great! And the ODO at Julian. "Hey man, does this thing do 160?? Ha!" Ferris has been so busy ridin', no time for washin... From Julian we had a great ride down Banner Grade to Ocotillo Wells where much more epicness ensued. But I'll save that for later. Wouldn't want to spill the beans before the chef gets to taste em' LOL! FB, I had a blast. Thank you. And thank you to Al and Joann who made the stay at Ocotillo so hospitable. Except for the sandstorm, I hardly felt as if we were camping. I don't camp that well in Yuma, that's for sure (Subs, chips, dips, drinks, chairs, shelter... You guys are the best! Thanks again. It was good to see you Californians again, I'll see you at Oktoberfast!!! Ride Ferris Ride!!!! Good night all! |

For those that don't know, Joe Boyd was one of motorcyclings finest folks. The last ride I went on with him was to Julian. Thanks for bringing back some super memories. . . it's been about 10 years ago and I'm not sure Denise didn't snap the photo! Time flies. . .

Great weekend. Jerry can tell the whole story later in his epic write up to come. Ebear, Sparky, and I each collected tickets from CA's finest, BBstacker went down but both he and his bike came out relatively unscathed, at least in any permanent sense. Our agenda for the weekend was a bit aggressive, several events conspired to make us late both Saturday and sunday for given waypoints. So if anyone was waiting for us and then just gave up and left, sorry, we really tried, but stuff happens. We had to scrap the loop around Big Bear Lake, Palomar, and Rancho Palos Verdes, but we got thru most of it. I learned that you just tell Ferris "go do this and I'll take the picture" and you'll be well entertained. If I'd known this at Springfast, I think we could've gotten him to leap onto the dome of death. But I'll let the pictures that will be posted tell the stories of his daring-do. Joanne and Laurie and Scott (USroute66) rocked, they carried a ton of stuff out to the desert to feed and shelter us through the windy night. And lots of beer. My rating of the Uly's dirt worthiness went up a couple clicks this weekend. Al |

The SoCal Flying Circus meets up in Wrightwood on Saturday morning. American Sport Bike Al saves the day (once again) and fixes Don's flat tire. The pump is a must have for riding out in Buell country. Jerry getting jazzed with Laurie. Getting jazzed about FBRAT! Bottle rockets were attached to the Beulling Man. Very cool. Even the one that missed my head by inches. Holmes camp was beautiful at sunrise. A Uly in Malibu. Man, they're everywhere. Sweet dreaming of the days proceedings.
