I have an opened tach kit here and was wondering if I have all the parts can someone list off the parts in the kit? | ||

it's been a while, what i can remember is: dual gauge housing, instrument bezel (chrome ring), ignition position sticker, and the tach, i think that's everything. | ||

My tach kit was part #Z11042.L, parts list is on the back of the last page of the instructions parts list is: 1 - Tach 2 - Dash panel 3 - Cushion, gauge (2) 4 - Wear pad, teflon (small, square, adhesive back) 5 - Screw 1/4-20x3/4 (2) 6 - Washer, flat (4) (1/4" ) 7 - Nut, hex (4) (1/4" ) 8 - Grommet, rubber (4) 9 - Label, ignition switch 10 - Hose clamp fuel (crimped) 11 - Wire tie (5/32, 8.5 inch) (3) 12 - Wire tie (7/64, 8.5 inch) (4) 13 - Wire tie #14, black (2) (maybe should be 1/4" instead of #14?) I seem to recall that there was a cable from the tach (came attached to it?) also, that is not listed above. That cable has the orange, pink, and black wires that have to be pushed into place into the harness connector located under the tank on the right front side (on an M2). If you don't orient those small metal contacts just right as you slide them into the connector body, they will not lock themselves into the connector. Match the existing ones to get them right. Push them in with a toothpick or small screwdriver until they are seated to the same depth as the others and give them a gentle tug so see if they are latched in place. The wiring diagram in the instructions, mentions "Chamber numbers" and shows them as 1 through 10 side by side in one row. But on the connector they are actually two parallel rows of five. I was sort of paranoid about getting them in the wrong holes (getting them back out is not easy unless you have the right tool) so I was figure out the numbering plan from the colors of the wires that are already in place. I wrote in down, checked it twice, and got it right on the first try. :>  Email me if you want copies of the instructions I have or of the page in service manual that is mentioned in the instructions. I have a question for you guy's. My Tach on my M2 does not sweep the dial any more, it sticks/ or hesitates in several spots. Is that why you are rebuilding your's? I have 27,000+ miles on mine. For give me if this is a stupid question. Thx |
