hello, i'm new to the board and bikes all together. i've been casually shopping for a bike for a while. i've always wanted a harley, then i saw an m2 cyclone and loved it. do buells sound like a harley. i've never actually seen or heard a buell run, just parked in a lot somewhere. its the sportster engine so it has to sound similar. i don't really care for the high rev sound of the foreign bikes, so it would be sweet to see a race style bike have the deep sound of a harley. |

I'd call it a nice but not loud sound. I think the two into one header and a single muffler takes it out of the "sounds like a Harley" class. My M2 has stock exhaust and I let my neighbor ride it so I could hear it for myself. I like it, both in the saddle and on the curb, earcatching if you like bikes but I don't think it would offend anyone. As far as I am concerned, the sound of hard accelerating twin straight pipes with little or no muffling is more an annoyance than anything else. Its an H-D thing, its an important part of the "H-D lifestyle" but I can live without it. Friendly advice, if you buy a Buell, don't assume that you just became a part of the H-D fellowship. Jack |

That fellowship thing is for sure, but if you want to that Buell can sound way better than a harley, probably won't get there with a stock pipe, but most of the aftermarket stuff is good sounding and not too loud, save for D&D and force...I have a force on my M2 and love way it sounds but I don't think my nieghbors agree with it so much |

It's almost like a Sportster but throatier. I've let a few people ride my bike (you can't truly hear it unless you're not on it) and it sounds awesome. If you've got a "Lighting" cam bike the Harley techs like to ask if it's got a cam in it. |

A few friends and my dad-an old harley rider, all think mine sounds like a pro stock street car! Which to me rocks, but my little community of ties, suites, and wannabe movers and shakers don't seem to like it at 6:30 in the morning. Don't all bikes have a cam in them?
