Built on a Paughco frame and powered by an ultra-reliable 1202cc EVO drive train, with a 5 speed transmission and a smooth running belt drive, The motorcycle was based on an ultra-rare 1995 Buell Thunderbolt S-2 with less than 3,000 original, pampered miles when acquired as the donor for this project.

Doggy:

I think Bomber refers to:

Author: Smith, Adam (1723-1790)
Title: An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations
Published: London: Methuen and Co., Ltd., ed. Edwin Cannan, 1904. Fifth edition.
First published: 1776.

Generally considered to be a classic work on economics. Smith referred to the forces of the free market as "the invisible hand."

I've got a white one, but never had an offer I'd accept for it, taken it to a few shops for trade consideration, still never had an offer I'd accept for it, when someone offers $1,200-$3,200 it stays untransferred, when someone offers less than parts will get in short order it stays assembled and untransferred, but when the time comes (if it comes) it will go for the highest acceptable option available. Folks say it's a shame when they get chopped or parted, yet they also immediately say don't pay more than $3500 for one in prime condition. What is is regardless of what folks say versus do. Funny how the drag bikes rarely get the comments the choppers do when the same basic changes are made.

Oh well, life goes on, and being a week away shows 'tis still true.

Back on the grind stone....

Thanks Rt:
just learned something. i have never studied economics beyond personal finnance,
you know the bucket factor, why is the normal tendancy for the hole in the bottom of the bucket to be larger than that in the top

thanks again allways good to learn something new,

Dawg -- Thang gots it right, as per usual -- supply and demand is one of nature's law's -- MikeJ's situation is classic -- he's got one (supply), but no one has offered him what he wants for it (demand) --

tough to bend, much less break that law --

MikeJ also hit the nail on the head, that is, what folks say versus what they do -- ask any majoy bike manufacturer -- ask Honda bout the Ascot, Yamaha bout the SR500 and SRX600, etc etc etc -- talking is affordable, writing checks, less so, I'm thinkin, yes?

Thanks Gen'ts,
I would like to have an s2 as a second bike, but that law thing says my biz (Garage Ink) needs a truck, can't carry a fridge sized electrical enclosure in the back seat of the ragtop that i use when I cage. soo truck first,
( i have managed siding and a 20' ladder ) a cervesa story for sure

I had never heard of mr smith and i wondered of there was some humorous aside.

I feel for JT in that he is passionate about the s2, and in truth it irks me to see a buell cut up for the motor. But the reality is we don't own them all, and the other side of supply and demand says that when the majority of the S2 population is chopped ,<gag> ( smaller supply )
the ones left will be more valuable, and more desirable because of the rarity if the demand remains constant
did I get this right ? well got to get back to the other stuff thanks all......
ride safe

Mike J:
on the drag bike, yes they cut them up and ruin them for street use, but much like an F1 race car they become special purpose, built for one deadly serious use SPEED! Hence their intrinsic value remains(IMO)
Not to serve as a phallic enhancement, Race ready bikes have allways appealed to me but choppers lost their appeal at oh say 17 when I got my first bike and then rather than an hd chopper I wanted a TZ750 with lights. I think its moot, In that only 2000 or so of these beauties (s2) were built when they reach the
rr numbers 50 or so then they will fetch much more, this would happen sooner for your white S2 than say my black X1 of which 8000 or so were built in O1.
BTW have a nice day and thanks for the comments

No problem ; )

Riddle me this: if Erik were to develop a drag bike, or even a bar hopper street dragger, what would it be like?

Parallel riddle to keep in theme with today's rumors: if Erik were to develop a sidecar setup to attach either to an existing model or to a new model Buell, what would it be like?

(just sitting here waiting for the computer to catch up, or wake up)

the s1 x1,( all ready do the lightning )
" the original in your face whup your arse streetfighter! " stretch the swing arm to drag it
of course BMC //would// does // not "endorse" activities like driving while impared, or street racing no sir .....

don't think you will ever see Eriks' name on a side car for production

perhaps a 1200cc city cross or som kind of off road behemouth

JT
honestly speaking I'am blue collar.
I am recovering from the court system raping me in a divorce settlement. If did not have an x1 to pay for, I would have one may be 2more buells.

Sadly its us blue collar types that are doing most of the chopping, Tony as of last night there were at least 2 xb bikes being parted out, an x1w and an s2, in the past month there have been a couple of m2's,s2s' and x1's even seen a couple of white lightnings s1w and x1w and going under the wrench, as long as the chopper craze is in, there will be this destruction going on.

tuettle wannabees and jessie james wannabees, or you name it wannabees, they don't care, it's fat tires and chrome because its "cool" it's the "herd" mentallity and they don't understand it, its loud so its fast.....

you know I want to build a "chop" too
buy a Bourgette or similar herd mobile, with a 145" s&s baker 6 toss the chassis and the stupid impalement stuff, Use Eriks' geometry and engineering lessons and go hunt hiabusas, and black birds no chrome any where titanium and carbon fiber and billet, blacked out and malevolent
My licence plate "F4-U" corsair, or "P47" "Thunderbolt" these names have a special history, read up on ww2 aircraft in particular the thunderbolt it's history is in ww2 was um special.

Its too sad, you have a beautiful S2 hang on to it, I am keeping every thing that I take off of my X1, if they ever become "collectable" i will have my parts to return it to as close to original as possible.

I WILL enjoy my X1 as much as possible and may be in time accumulate an S1 and S2T or S3T until then i can but wait and watch and shake my head in sadness as fine motor cycles are destroyed.

You know what might help stop the carnage and help BMC, just like the Discovery chanel did a special on the Vrod <it was Cool>, do a special on motor cycle maveric / geinous Erik Buell, and the "American" motorcycle company that won't go away and won't die, and is gaining a place in the market, show the history, Courts ride, The Elves, FMJ and other privateers} The creation of the Xb bikes, and a hint of what lies ahead, and what it means to most of us to be called a "Bueller" in truth I have more fun on my X1 than I have on any other bike I have ever owned, in the end thats what its about
ride safe brother of the storm .....

Oldog,

You are the man. I love your idea for a Discovery Channel special on Buell's. That would be outstanding! The rest of the wannabe chopper crowd just has no clue what it is like to ride a bike like a Buell. Fast and any road beats fast and only straight any day in my book. I guess you have to be a "brother of the storm" to actually get it.

(You sparked my little hamster wheels turning again. "Brother's of the Storm" would look outstanding on a patch dedicated to Badwebbers.)

Delta I may diddle around with the Brothers of the storm idea for a patch,

might not be a bad idea for the title of a tv project who knows, just finished a primary gasket on the porch going for a ride

Oh yeah, I bet Harley paid for and had a say in the Vrod thing, IF Court would be able to participate he would be the ideal Host
