And it should come standard with hard bags, not a $1,500.00 option. Next season I will be looking for a new bike that can comfortably carry a passenger as well, right now I am considering the Kawasaki Concours, ST1300 or the FJR1300. Leaning toward the Kawasaki for its long term reliability of the I-4 and simplicity to work on. I don't need ABS Brakes or any other fancy options. |

I'm not a superstitious person one bit (I willingly walk underneath ladders, when a black cat crossed my path in a cemetery in Berlin I saw it as a good sign, etc.), but I do believe in chance occurrences trying to tell me something. Yesterday while I was leaving town to go for a little ride the truck ahead of me at a stop light had a personalized license plate that read 'ULISSES'. Close enough for me to call it kismet... 1313 |

So WTF is going with this?.... Safe for work...unless you work at Buell, perhaps. http://www.quickside.com/buell_closed_development/XB12X_Uly%20no%20release%20til l%207-23-05.WMV (Message edited by eor on July 18, 2005) |

It was a Citibank add, not a Buell add. Mediocre "photoshop" job. |

Me...I know nothing! Really...I don't...saw it posted over on ADVRider.com and thought I would bring it over here. Either Buell has bought Ural, is going to introduce a hack, or someone has a good sense of humor and some editing software. I am assuming the latter. |

"Either Buell has bought Ural..." That has to be it! The hack was the troublefree part of that rig and certainly worth of further development. Jack |

I get the Uncle Henry's weekly Swap & Sell guide each week (an institution up here in New England), there was a Ural with a hack for sale over in VT or NH a couple of weeks ago and the listing has not repeated (probably sold?). If it had been closer I'd have liked to have taken a look at it. I missed a good excuse to spend a few hours on the road in some really good riding country. If I come home with one more motorized toy... Jack |

Some of the guys over at ADVRider are already dismissing the new bike based on the artist's rendering that has been posted here... I think some have unrealistic expectations based on an unfamiliarity with Buell's philosophy and the platform upon which it is expressed. If we get a longer wheelbase, more range, relaxed ergos, luggage options, and the ability to go off pavement without pressing the bikes' design and performance envelope...while being consistent with the "trilogy of tech" concepts and within the performance and price point range of the competition, I think it will be a success. Someone needs to finish updating the teaser on the Buell website or get the other one back on line...four days before the introduction of a new model is NOT a good time to have a dead link on your website. |

Eor- VERY well stated, and from all indications, that's exactly what the Ulysses will be. (See the anony posting under the similar thread on the XB board.) What IS up with the dead link? I found it a little after 5 AM EDT this morning. Hard to believe that's intentional at this point. The URL for the teaser video is still good ( http://www.buell.com/en_us/index_teaser.asp), but the URL's been changed on the button at Buell to http://www.buell.com/en_us/indexHigh.asp which comes up as 404- "page cannot be found". |

I've never seen a Ural up close. Maybe I'll take a ride down there and see if I can stumble into one. I'm starting the realize where the interest in Corbin seats comes from. About 3-4 hours and I'm ready to get off for sure. Do the Corbins have more padding or better padding? Has anyone figured out what the basic issue is with the "lead " thing? Jack |

It is just my opinion but having done quite a bit of dirt biking I would think that the perimeter brake would be subject to damage. If in fact Buell is comming out with a dual sport or adventure sport or whatever. I remember often putting the front wheel in a rut or dirt or between rocks and roots all of which would put the perimeter disk in contact with and possibly hard contact with stuff. Thus possibly damaging the rotor or contanimating it with mud, dirt, and other debris. |

Ok, an 'Adventure tourer'? If you sell a bike that is advertised as having off-road capability you may rest assured that someone will take it down the most forbidding, dark and dangerous game trail and then complain when they find themselves up to the valve covers in the creek. After all, some guy just rode a Aprilla Tuono across the Sahara. |

...someone will take it down the most forbidding, dark and dangerous game trail... I'm game, now who will "loan" me the bike for a weekend????? (note: request torrential rain that weekend) (speculation) I would think testing has been done, and precautions taken, to ensure a "reasonable amount of abuse" won't hurt anything. May want to check the precautions in the owners manual before sinking it up to your visor. (speculation off) |
