Motorcycle Online has a new article up comparing adventure touring bikes...prominent within the article is a HUGE Buell ad referencing "uncharted territory." (Message edited by eor on July 11, 2005) |

There's going to be 2 So, Dave, are any of the current models/variations being dropped? Or are these going to be additional models? |

I think I know where Buell is headed... They are going to take on KTM. The adventure touring bike is aimed squarely at the KTM950 and the European market. Ever seen the trailer for the Super Duke 990? Looks allot like a trailer for a Buell....similar attitude aimed at a similar market. KTM started venturing onto the street a few years ago...now it is time for Buell to venture onto the dirt. Hopefully, Buell can tap into / generate / expand a market for adventure touring bikes stateside. The highways are full of H-D touring bikes and their clones, but when the roads turn to gravel and dirt they are left behind in favor of the Japs and Euros...and the US probably has more miles of unpaved roads than Japan and western Europe combined.... Whats wrong with this picture? |

I've been saying this all along... 600cc XB will be in Buell's future. Can't wait to see the new Buell "Discovery". I may need to get one to go along with my Land Rover Discovery |

Midknyte, Don't know, they don't tell me nuthin. I can't really see them dropping any of the current models though. I can't wait to fly down a gravel road on a DS Buell(if that's what they are going to build)! Of course I'll have to ride it back to Iowa to find some gravel roads. WI doesn't have any I have seen? This will open up a whole new market for Buell(and me!!!) I do wonder what they are going to do with the muffler? Having it at the bottom of the bike would seem less than perfect for a sometimes off road bike? |

I was thinking about that also Dave, but if the frame is 2-4" longer, and they are willing to give up a little peak HP for more low torque, and they have a few more inches on the suspension, I could see them gaining 4" of ground clearance easy. That would go a long way, expecially if the muffler is also an armored skidplate. It might also buy them another gallon of gas capacity. |

Dave.... Are you in the same Wisconsin as me? About 45 minutes north of Appleton is the Nicolet Nat'l Forest. TONS of great gravel and fire roads for exploring. They're all open to motorized vehicles (as long as it's street legal). Almost forgot...a GREAT road on the way there also (Hwy 55 through the Indian reservation). |

Lake...Just don't forget that the DNR uses radar in the parks both on the roads and trails and the Conventional LEO's have jurisdiction on all the paved surfaces. Sort of puts a damper on things, eh? In the event either Buell or Harley introduces a bike that can be used on the trails, I pray HDI uses their political clout to get the ATV trails in Wisconsin, especially Southern and Central Wisconsin open to motorcycles. Lack of off road riding areas has been a major deterrent in the sales of dual purpose bikes in SE Wisconsin. Can't say the same for Adventure Tourer's as the fun roads around here are deteriorating so fast that the extra suspension travel would be a blessing. LOL |

Dave...Do I hear a demo ride in the future? If this bike is all that I'm hoping/wishing, the S3T could end up on the selling block next summer. |

You know as soon as one gets to Appleton you can come ride it! So When should I start camping outside the front door? Lake, I think we need to take Dave up to Crandon for the Brush Run and then do some riding through the Nicolet Forest. |

Erik said he had a special showing of the upcoming bikes to a few select motorcycle reporters. Maybe one of them was Motorcycle Online. I think all of us have agreed it's gonna be a Dual. That might just get me to try that!! |

Well, when I was in my local friendly Buell/HD today ordering parts, I ran this past my parts guru Joe(one of 2 buellers there)...he was clueless, BUT, he will be going to the Showcase/Release thingy on the 21st, 22nd..WITH a camera, adn being a HD employee..well, he can do that..I will know then, as this is killing me.... Teh other bueller, Troy, he KNOWS there is 2 new models coming out(so he says)... BUT, he said he will wager anyone, a months pay, cash down to 3rd party, that one is a DS, and is almost thuroughly convinced the other is some sort of bagger... He asked why I allof a sudden was interested in the newer Buells, I said if I come in with a cash deposit, howlong will it take to get a DS for delivery before I move to Maine? The stare was priceless he is like me, LOVES the tubers(runs a S1 in CSSor CCS whatever he said).... Though IF i get pics before release time(which I doubt), I wont share, at least until after the offical release.... So.... Of to dream of twisty unpaved roads, and v-twins... Chase |

That looks like a Honda concept scooter. Forget the name of it but it's essentially a four cylinder 'Wing. Good photo shop job... |

With the new models releasing shortly, you'd think new part numbers would be listed and possibly even available. It'd give another clue to what's coming. DAve (Message edited by dave on July 12, 2005) |

"With the new models releasing shortly, you'd think new part numbers would be listed and possibly even available. It give another clue to what's coming. " So you're saying that we could actually BUILD one of these wonderous '06 Buells for our very own BEFORE the 23rd? Too bad 99% of us have no access to the parts lists DAVE! |
