Just thought I'd let everybody know what I did to help with muffler mounting problems. Thanks to Ronnie Ford who used to work for South Valley HD here in Utah and who raced his Buell. Notice use of full clamps around muffler instead of tabs, and springs are very stiff to hold up and down movement secure but to allow small lateral movements. This almost entirely cancels vibrations to muffler that breaks tabs and welds. I did this to the front also using both the stock front and rear hangers. I believe it also keeps HARD vibrations from reaching the head and breaking exhaust studs. Nothing new here in the motorcycle world and other places where vibration is a problem. All I can say is so far so good. Bob T.

Can anybody help me! I have a 99 X1 and USE to have a Vance and Hines 2SSR Muffler and decided to go back to the stock muffler. The problem is that I don't have a front muffler mount kit and tried to order one but they are no longer in stock and Buell switched to a new mount kit that cost 91.00 dollars. Can or does anyone know where I can get the old kit without paying for the new kit?

Bob, looks good.

Much cleaner than what he suggested looked like in my head. (Something about wrapping a screen door spring underneath the pipe and hooking it up with bolts and washers at the regular mounting points).

Looks like that uses the "Z" bracket?

Is the hanger (loop) custom?

My tabs just broke when I arrived at work today and our welder was on his day off!!! Luckily for me they have a MIG in our GSE Dept.!!!!

Hey guys, since I am a cheap bastard let me tell you what I did. I took the rear muffler mount grommet and steel shim and put them in the freezer for about eight hours. Then I quickly took them out, put a little oil on it and it fit very snug in the FRONT muffler mount. I did however have to shave some of the steel shim down to fit in the front muffler but it holds great. I did have reservations about putting the old muffler back on but then I thought about it and correct me if I am wrong; but, if you have DDFI then it doesn't matter what kind of muffler you have. If it was a carbed engine, then I see the point.
