I've been having idling issues since I put the race kit in my xb12s, sometimes at start up it will idle real low (about 600) and be real erratic. Then when it gets warmed up it will run good but the idle will hang up at about 2k for a few seconds before coming back down. After I've ridden it for awhile and stop for 10-15 minutes it starts all over even when it is hot. I was down at the dealer the other day and was talking with my salesman. He said, per Buell, that the bike needs to run through a cycle in the computer...basically you need to run the bike for 5-10 minutes or you will foul out your plugs and it won't run right until you replace them. Now I understand the bike runs rich at start up until it gets warmed up, but once it gets warmed up it should not run rich at start up, at least as far as I am concerned. To me, it seems like a temp sensor of one kind or another is not working properly. Any thoughts, any help, this is starting to annoy me, they told me to bring it in and they would put one of their lot guys on it to ride it for a long test ride to see if they can figure it out, but would really like some ideas before I let them do it. |

Howie: Sounds like the TPS needs to be reset; the dealer can do that or you can buy a program to do it if you are compute literate. DAVES has the program... |

tps reset, change the plugs to the good ones and give her hell on a openroad...some nice high rpms seems to clean out the gunk |

I had the identical issue with my XB12S with the factory race kit when it was new. I rode it like this until the first service. The TPS reset, a change to the SYN3 and a idle adjustment and now it runs and idles perfect. I think the guys are right! Don't let them ride your bike. Have them do the procedure and then ride it yourself |
