Rode some twisties last night at 7/10ths and passed a lone V-Rod also out for a blast. He stayed at a respectable distance for 10-15 mins until he turned off. The Rod seemed pretty good exiting corners. OK I wasn't exactly trying and probably neither was he but compared a/c Harleys he was in a different league. Stop-light GP or twisties - anybody *really* tried it on with a V-Rod ? |

They're almost dead even with a stock 12R from about 25-100. Just a tad slower. 0-20 I think they'd pull away due to wheel base, but I don't know. Above 100, I don't know. I do know, however, that when we are both trying it only takes two corners. I can't see one in my rear view headed into turn three... |

I picked up a Street Rod saturday. In a straight line it builds power really well, haven't really opened it up yet due to break in. I would bet that it doesn't corner nearly as well as it is a heavy bike with a huge wheel base disadvantage. Oddly it turns into corners and holds a line like my S2 except it leaves with a lot more intensity. Real good control over cross winds and bumps in the road. Properly setting up a 12R for bumps is tricky and if you get it wrong a Street rod will eat it for lunch. |

I rode the new "Street Rod" a few weeks back. Very nice for a cruiser, much more lean clearance, but power doesn't truly kick in until higher revs. Sounds kinda weezy too. Would be Schweet with a few mods, but I love my wheelies. |

street rod is as close to VR1000 as hd will probably ever get. pulls like a son-of-a-%#$@ all the way through the gears. cornering takes some practice. definitely benefits from exhaust/filter/ecm changes. needs different bars too. |

As a scared old fart, I hate wheelies I love the feel you get at about 75 as the wind trys to rip you off the motorcycle. Nothing like a good hard run up to speed on a naked bike to blow the cobwebs out your thought processes. I've only been to 5500rpm so far and this thing flat out hauls. The dealership wanted to sell me a windshield right away but that ain't why I bought this bike. Nothing like a honest 100hp naked bike. Still hard to believe Harley built this thing |

19800 miles on the Street Rod. Been down to the dragon twice. I do not have any problem keeping up to a friend on a ST4. I have knocked the feelers off of the pegs. Scrape the pegs once in awhile. Lots of fun. Still can not wait for what Buell has to offer for 06. |

I have a V-Rod (4 sale) and I rode with my buddy who has a Honda CBR900RR on some backroad twisties. He was impressed how well I kept up. I did have to keep the rpms up, and rarely dropped below 5k. That was the one time I really rode the hell outta my bike, and it was a blast! |

I traded a V Rod (03 anodized) for my XB12S earlier this year. The V Rod sounded a bit better (SE pipes), BUT the Buell does EVERYTHING better. It's FAR superior in cornering and it (the XB) accelerates from ALL speeds noticeably quicker than the Rod did. The V Rod is a nice power cruiser, with a lot of "hi-tech", but I wanted a lighter and much better handling bike with as much power and MORE hi-tech - that's what I got with the XB12 !!! EE |

madduck, you are in for a pleasant surprise when you stop breakin in that rod and open her up. the power starts at 6000 rpm and pulls strong till 9000rev limit. that is a real fun bike there. it is almost next on my list, right after a speed triple and a ducati monster. |

"Still can not wait for what Buell has to offer for 06." A little birdie told me a little, should be an interesting intro for some folks on an island somewhere. July will be here soon enough for the rest of us. |

Anybody tried to wheelie a street rod yet? Just wondering if it can do it or will just do a burn out. I've got a demo ride on one scheduled on July fourth weekend. |

Yup, I remember Nova. I was really disappointed that the (patented) trick radiator setup they had on the Nova didn't make it onto the V-Rod. For those who don't know, it was set horizontal under the air box. Barely even saw it was there. The big stylistic issue I have with the V-Rod is that really ugly radiator hanging up front there. It almost limits your lean angles more than the big-a$$ exhaust. |

I rode the Street-Rod just recently and came away reasonably impressed. The bike handles well enough to belie its size and the engine makes a noticeable amount more power than a V-Rod (I rode them back-to-back). No way a stock 12 is going to keep up with one in a straight line for any significant distance. Of course, the twisties are another matter, but I could see a great rider on a Street-Rod keeping up with a good rider on an XB12. |

"But there are many islands in the world." Hmmmmmmmmmmm, Isle of Man, too bad an "intro" wouldn't coordinate with their big IofM race weekend. E |

Took a demo ride on a Street Rod, kind of lugged below 3K RPM in my opinion. Stock all around. Not really impressed compared to the XB. My choice for a cruiser though. Had some higer torque in the higher RPM. Felt heavy but nimble. |

I have also demoed a Street Rod, down at Daytona, I agree the tuning is a bit soft below 3k, but above that it rips. The bike revs to 9k, why you would want to cruise around at 3k? You're missing the point of the bike. I have a VRSCA (with the 30 tooth pulley), I rarely shift into fourth or fifth. I let it spin above 4k at all times. I'll probably switch to the 28 tooth pulley kit at some point so I can use fifth gear more often. |
