I'm going to drill out the pop rivets and replace them with machine screws. What size screws (pitch and length) are typically used? TIA |

There's a $15 kit you can get from American Sport Bike that'll have everything you need, including the tap. It's more than if you put it together yourself, but it's easy. It'll also let you replace the rivets in the lower exhaust cover/plastics as well. http://www.americansportbike.com/shop/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?&pg=prod&ref=A9017 I know that didn't answer your question, sorry. 8) -Geof |

If you have a tap tool already, you're only a hardware store away from completion. Bring an appropriate sized tap with you to verify thread count and size. Oh yeah, buy stainless hardware. |

I used the kit. I recommend it. Worked well. |

Ditto. The plate is mild steel and threads easily. I used 10-32 stainless screws with plastic washers. |

When I changed the timing cover on mine, I installed nutserts on the plate. Gives me plenty of thread (relative to the thickness of the plate), and I use a little blue Loctite on a pair of #6-32 stainless oval head screws. |
