There is so much talk about this pipe and that, yada yada. Its hard to cut through it all and get the hard facts on the matter. Is there someplace where ALL the most popular pipes have been compared, so you can make an informed decision? Oh yeah, while I'm wishing, MP3 recordings of each pipe and dyno graphs. lol |

MP3 recordings never do the pipe justice. Go to Misato's website and listen to his Force... It STILL doesn't do the pipe real justice and it sounds DAMN nice. What are you looking for in a pipe? Where do you want the power? |

I want the power to be as consistent as possible. My goal would be no flat spots. Oh, and a wicked sound. :-) |

It's my 9S with the stock ECM, probably why it pops a little on decel. I have put over 7000 miles on it with the stock ECM and am hesitant to try the race ECM cause I like 53 MPG! |

I like my special Ops so far. Cost effective, looks goods, sounds awesome and pulls like a mule from the bottom up and I'm not done tuning my TFI yet. |

i 2nd the special o.p.s. pipe alot.love the sound. it is very cost effective(for me). i also had the bike on the dyno before and after the install of it,lost no power any where, and gained 1.96 hp, but i was really just looking for sound and not a decrease in what power i already had with the bike. plus as an added bonus,on the 12(r) or (s) you don't have to mess with the exhaust valve and servo.it is still used in the design of the special o.p.s. pipe.(another bonus for me.) lonexb |

That pipe is now available through stone mountain (one way or another) right? I think that is how we worked out the sponsor issues. I am running one on my 9, and am not unhappy with it. It is on the loud side (IMHO) but not "get yourself arrested or totally tick off the neighbors" loud. Fit and finish is not quite up to drummer levels, but it seems structurally sound, and the price is not at drummer levels either. Hopefully I will get it on a dyno in the next few weeks, but overall I suspect it left the bottom end unchanged, the midrange perked up a little, and the top end perked up a lot. The tone is outstanding, makes my XB one of the nicest Harleys I have ever heard (much to the annoyance of Harley owners everywhere). If the pipe is not available through stone mountain HD, this discussion needs to move offline ASAP. |

The pipe is available thru SMHD/B. Since Reep received his improvements have been made in fit and finish. Price is still low though. |

Odie - Since you (or your dealership) is a sponsor, can you safely provide us with more details about the Special OPS pipe? Is it a modified stock can? What other modifications would I need to make to my stock XB9SX for that pipe to work best? Price? Thanks. |

Pa, glad to. I modify stock 9 and 12 pipes. This allows stock fitment, jacking of the bike, it loses a little weight (about 5 #'s) and the 12 pipe retains an operational exhaust valve which will keep your check engine light off until a real problem exists. On the 9 pipe you can choose left or right outlet. On the 12 pipes I put dual outlets. I have attached a few pics (maybe some members that have my pipes will post some also). The sterling silver one was done after a customer purchased it (looks sweet!). I have a sound clip but it is too big to attach to a post. PM me if you want me to send it to you. Price is $250 with the exchange of your pipe. I give you a 110% satisfaction guarantee. If, for ANY reason, you are not satisfied your money will be refunded right back out to you and I'll pay for the shipping to get it back to me or SMHD/B. If it ever needs repair (due to the mod's performed) the work will be performed for free if you get it back to me or SMHD/B. You can contact SMHD/B on the sponsor thread for purchasing info. If you need any further info you can also PM me. Thanks, Odie. |

PA, I have an early prototype on my 9sx. Use the race ECM (new version that is 9sx specific), reset the TPS (necessary for the new race ECM), bolt on the new pipe, and fire it up. I also trimmed the rubber snorkel, cut away the sides of the airbox (see pictures elsewhere here), and put in the race filter. Hopefully I will post dyno plots of that exact combination up here in the next month or so. My guess is that it kept low end the same, gave me maybe 2 HP in the middle, and probably 5 hp up top (pushing me from 76 HP into the low 80's). The setup is a nice "no fuss" non glitchy solid runner, just like the Drummer would be. |

Thanks Odie. I will definitely consider it. In addition, thanks to Reep for the info about the race ECM etc. |
