I have an 03' XB9S...the battery seems to be weak. Kinda strange in my opinion. I have had several other bikes and never replaced a battery or used a battery tender. In anycase, does anyone have any suggestions on where I can pick up a battery at a reasonable price? Maybe Daves? I look forward to any info you all may have! |

Did you test the stator output? It's a pretty easy test. The stock Harley Battery (absorbed glass mat) is actually a pretty sophisticated battery, and not bad for the price (at least the one I got for my Cyclone, don't know if the XB model is more expensive). No, I didn't check the stator, but I did put the battery on a 2amp trickle charge overnight and the bike started fine. I came back 2 days later, and it was nearly dead. Thanks for the info. |

look in the yellow pages for an auto electric rebuilder in your area. dont bother asking the owner a million questions over the phone, just ask if he can load test your battery. if your getting less than 200 CCA, buy a new battery. YTX-14bs, should cost about 70 to 75 bucks. have the shop fill and charge the battery for you, most will not charge you any money for this service. a good healthy YTX14 will throw down 325 CCA, although they are only rated at 200. another source is the harley shop, same battery as the vrod, quality is good, and price is surprisingly reasonable for the OEM part. |

Harley battery is readily available and not to expensive. Do not buy the batteries advertised for Buells on Ebay, they suck. Check your charging system. SteveH |

Local bike shop in Denver, Performance Cycle, has the YUASA batteries that fit the XB9R for $75 with a full five year replacement warranty. Yup, you read that right. Catch is you gotta keep your receipt. The YUASA is even American made too!
