Well tonight on my way to my free sales class I won in the Buell sales contest I got busted! 83 in a 65. The fine you ask for only 18 over? 230.00!!!!! The trooper told me that anything from 1 to 16 over is 180.00 16-20 is 230.00 I didn't ask how high they go after that. 20 over in Iowa is only about 100.00 Then I get to the hotel, that Buell is paying for and guess what? Internet is 9.95 plus tax per day!!!! The hotel fails to mention that on their website of course. They just say all rooms have it. A little misleading, yep, I think so. Well I hope they(Buell) don't think I'm going without internet for 2 days cause I'm putting it on their bill! Wonder if they'd cover my ticket too? |

Dave... I should have warned you about that stretch between Milwaukee and appleton. I lock my cruise at 69 MAX. Sorry... The good news is if you go to court they will usually remove half the points, but the fine probably won't budge. Where are you staying? |

Dave, A few years back..... I got pegged while doing 90 in . The sheriff crested the hill the same time me and the GPz did. The smokey alerter went off the instant his lights went on. I pulled over and waited for him. He was nice enuff to only write it for 19 over. He actually thanked me for pulling up, waiting and having everything ready for him. Why pull over you ask? I was pointed at his sub-station in Ellsworth. With nothing but dirt roads off of hwy 10. |

I haven't had a ticket in about 3 years. I just didn't want to pay for all my sins in one ticket. Still works out to a pretty good deal since I tend to speed most of the time. |

Blake -- this finally struck me as well -- here's the best Buell Sales guy (in my experience, anyways) and he won a sales class -- while I'm pleased that my bud got something he wanted, it leaves me scratchin my head as to why organizations hand out training to those that have demonstrated a good grasp on the subject (everyone can get better, and the bottom 10% won't improve no matter what you do, but still, the logic seems kinda wonky, yes?) anyways, get some Dave ! good one you |

Dave, you might be able to get this ticket turned into a NON MOVING violation if you are willing to pay for it. The non moving will not get reported as a traffic ofense so it will not go to your insurance company and it will never even go on your traffic record. BUT the fine will undoubtly go up and you may have to pay an attorny 100 bucks to make it happen. Don't ask me how I know this. It was worth it to keep a clean, no tickets in over 10 years drivign record. What I paid I have made back in lower insurance premiums many times over AND the last time I got stopped my clean record got me a warning not a ticket. |

Kansas has a similar deal. You can go the the court clerk and ask to have your ticket amended. They're happy to reduce it to a parking ticket, as long as you're happy to double the fine. It's pretty close to extortion in my book, because it'd be foolish to not take advantage of it. With that said, I'm grateful for a safety valve to keep it off of my insurance. |

Dave...That was just Wisconsin's way of welcoming you to NaziLand. Sure wish Wisconsin and the other States would adopt California's Traffic School Program. You pay for the ticket; you pay for traffic school; you don't need to pay for an attorney; and, your ticket stays with the court, not your DMV record at the State level, so your insurance doesn't go up. I really like California's program as it is a continuing education program for licensed drivers. It helps convey responsible driving as well as updating folks on the new traffic laws that most are not aware of. Sort of an expensive "Second Chance", but well worth it in the long run. Not to mention I believe in periodic refresher classes for drivers as way too many are impervious to the potential disasters their bad habits can result in. |

Your lucky you were not in Utah, you would have been looking at a $500+ fine. |

Florida has that traffic school at least. Anyways, Dave, any chance of you going on the road to help other dealerships with learning how to become better Buell dealers. |

I have to commute through a tiny town called Kemah, TX. At one time it had the honor of having 3 of the top 100 speed traps in the country. We call the cops there 'Moving Tax Collectors"

Blake, You betcha! Bomber, I understand your logic on the schooling. That said, everyone can improve their skills, especially me. Firebolt020283, Not a chance of me doing away with the discount. But(plug here)if you need something now would be a great time for me to sell some extra parts or bikes! Davegess, Thanks for the advise. I don't know how it will affect me as I still have an Iowa drivers lic? Gowindward, Now I feel jipped! Mutt, Note to self, never move to Utah. Cataract, No offers like that. I am the only one out of 26 students wearing a Buell shirt today! X1TX Wisconsin has one of those towns too. Rosendale, cops on one end of town or the other every time I go thru on my way home to see Kandie. |

Dave, I don't have any advice on tickets, it's been 17 years (when I was 17) since I've had one. But I was pulled over in North Texas coming home from an Air Force school for going 72 in a 70. I was very surprised to get pulled over for two over, I guess Texas State Police don't like out of state tags. But I will say congratulations for top Buell sales. Steve |

That's what happens when you move from Iowa to Wisconsin. All the prices go up. The cost of living and the price of speeding tickets. That bites. But Congrats on your top sales. Are you the Buell Sales Poster Child? Hehe |

I made a poster for them once but they didn't use it. Several people at Buell thought it was pretty funny though. |

Was driving in rush hour traffic, yet everyone was going the speed limit with no problem. Well, a sheriff gets on the freeway about 4 cars in front of me and everyone slows to below the limit!! Hell with this I say, so I start passing people. I make my way right behind him, and I'm going the speed limit, passing cars right behind him. I guess he thought I was a little cocky, and a little too close. He pulls over one lane, slows down(I pass him at the speed limit), and then he gets behind me. My radio is pretty loud, windows up. I glance back at him, and he's between both lanes, and I can hear yelling. I turn the music down, and roll the window down. Sure enough, he's yelling something on the horn. I put my hand out the window like: "What?". He says: "Slow Down, and stop riding my A*@!!".. My face is red, I slow down, look straight ahead, now going slower than everyone, and he passes me on his merry way! What a day. So never get behind a cop at close distance!! |

I am not sure if this still holds true for the badger state. It was one of the few that went by...what happens inside the borders stays in and what happens outside stays out. Excepting for the really serious stuff like DUI/DWI/OWI |

My last ticket (the first in 7 years) was for doing 90 in a 65 while driving through Oregon. It cost me $420. |
