Well it hit the H-D website yesterday and I can't believe nobody has commented yet. Thoughts?? |

I kept waiting for an XB to come ripping by in the corners...It has a claimed 40° lean angle. Whats the lean angle on an XB 50°-55°? |

Why not just buy a Buell for half the price? |

"Why not just buy a Buell for half the price?" Wheelbase, passenger comfort, gas mileage range, to name a few. But then I can't afford a V-Rod, and the XB's don't currently fulfill my needs, and I can't afford/justify a third bike, to name a few other things. |

Yeah, for real. A few people I know have been raving about the Yamaha MT-01. It's like a Buell with more torque, an extra 7-8 inches in the wheelbase, and 100 more lbs. Oooh, sounds like fun! |

Jose, I'm thinking along the same lines. I got the '04 VRSCB and I now wish I'd of waited -- I like it. The additional fuel load is out-freaking-standing and if I choose to make any mods to the '04 that'll be numero uno for sure. If that's not a feasbile add-on I'll dump it and do the FLHT upgrade to 120 and turn in to a constant couch rider. The M2 is going to the grave with me so I'll have a Buell until I can't ride anymore. G2 |

The M2 is going to the grave with me so I'll have a Buell until I can't ride anymore. Am beginning to think along those lines as well. Only difference is I have an X1 and a Wide Glide. make a sport touring Buell!!! Am beginning to think all that takes is a redesign on the tail section. Should end up with good accommodations for a passenger. My only question is what will that do to the handling due to the steep head angle and the additional weight on the rear? |

Outrider, I've had a number of HD's over the years and the M2 is the only one that continues to talk to me after 10K miles or 18 months. I stand by my long running commentary that it's the perfect motorcycle -- even if Court & Reepi have moved to the XB camp :-) G2 |

BigDaddy...Not to worry, you still have Bomber and a bunch of other die hard M2 fans to swap stories with for quite sometime to come. Had you bought an X1, you would be pretty much a loner in most Buell groups. Dang, I wonder what happened to all of them? |

M2 is my choice if I get another tuber, XB9SX if I go newer. |

Interesting, she's still a big girl at 615 dry. Probably the reason we haven't seen that engine in a Buell is it's weight, doubt Eric wants to compromise weight for peak hp. Just another bike from Harley/Buell that I have to add to my wish list. |

Doughnut...I thought you would be holding out for the "Police Special." KenB...It's a fast Harley that carves the turns better than it's predecessors. It ain't no Buell. Buell's are sport bikes, plain and simple. I really don't think either Erik or HDI would want it any other way. Plus, the only track work you may want to do with a Street Rod is at the drags. That is unless you are trying to sucker your buds that ride cruisers and baggers. |

I still think that if H-D made a track/street version of the V-Rod (like the one it was tested in) and list price it for the same price of a V-Rod, it would sell. A real Sport bike from H-D with that motor would be cool. As long as they continue the cruiser base, that is something we may never see. Just a Thought |

Gomo...I concur. Just read a comparo on Motorcycle Online of the original V-Rod and Yamaha's Warrior. Is pretty easy to see that the Street Rod was designed to be positioned against the Warrior. In essence, that leaves the radical MT-01 in a field by itself which leads credence to your concept. That is unless the Street Rod is positioned to go up against both bikes. You know, sort of a dual purpose (sic) bike. |

Bill, I can see the Warrior approach as well as the Victory Hammer. From what I understand (and I may be wrong), the V-Rod sales numbers have yet to hit what H-D was looking for. I do not think, as much as I like this new version, that this model will help put it over the top. I say change the handle bars and pegs a little more and throw on S3 stlye fairing and be done with it - it's what most of us have been waiting for. Just an addendum to a thought |

I like the 5 gallon gas tank. That makes the minimum range 185 miles. I could live without the mid controls. I do like the fact that MSRP is under $17k. I still lust for the Road King Custom. |

Must keep the mid-controls if you want to turn the bike faster than grandma's Buick. Love the Street Rod. It is what the V-Rod was missing. As far as for range, a V-Rod will not touch my M2 in fuel mileage. 56MPG at 70mph on the highway, worst to date 47MPG spanking it hard! |

Gomo...Unless you have already done so, check out the photo gallery in the V-Rod forum. They have some really great concept baggers and cruisers in there. My guess is those models, and the dirty rotten scoundrels at the EPA will take the V-Rod to the top of HD's sales charts in the next 5 years or so. Funny...most of the V-Rod guys are ! Kinda like when we first heard about the City X. With a little time they may warm up to it. Look how many guys here now approve of the City! |

I'm blown away by the negativity this bike is receiving! I had the chance to put 500 miles on a VRSCA and I came away very impressed. The bike is smooth, fast, and has a nice power delivery. It has an amazingly refined feeling without feeling boring. My biggest complaint with the V-rod was in the handling, followed closely by the ergonomics. The VRSCR fixes both the handling and the ergonomics while adding more fuel range and getting better brakes/suspension. The street rod will be a functionally better motorcycle in every way, yet (nearly) everyone is complaining about it. Sure, it doesn't handle like a Buell, but what does? A good rider on a VRSCR should be able to keep up with anything other than a dedicated sport bike on the street, and it appears that that's all Harley intended. I personally won't be in line to buy one, but it has shot straight to the top of my "favorite Harley" list. Mike L. '04 XB12R |

I think when Harley started pricing their bikes in the $15,000+ range they developed a type of customer that is bying the bike as a status symbol. To me it is kinda like a Cadilac, you by it because of it's comfort and name. I think the StreetRod is cool but most Harley guys never accepted the original V-Rod and this bike is even further from the traditional Harley. What I find interesting is that I believe Harley is looing for new cliental rather then trying to impress the current fans. There are very few people I see that decide between a Duece and a V-Rod. If a guy wants the image he will buy the Duece. If he wants to go fast without dropping $20,000 and is not looking for the traditional image he will buy the V-Rod. Much like BUELL owners, V-Rod guys feel like stepchildren too. |

The HD bigtwin that most closely, and even shares parts, resembles the VROD is the Deuce. Anyone who thinks/believes that a blinged out big twin won't perform is mistaken. Once the ElectraCouch has the 120 and 6 Speed I'll be able to surprise a good number of superfast street bikers. HD is trying to extend their customer base and that's a good thing. |

HD is trying to extend their customer base and that's a good thing. It's the only way to survive. It's not like they're retiring any of the other models. |

"What I find interesting is that I believe Harley is looking for new cliental rather then trying to impress the current fans. " Hmmm, this sounds strangely familiar, much like was said about Buell when the XB's were first announced. And it is kind of funny in that once the VR-R hits the local dealers I'll be walking in comparing the V-Rod to the RoadKing and to the Dyna. |
