Oktoberfast 2004 is in the books, and it pretty much didn't suck. as in "without suck". as in "sans suck." as in "Suckless in Sequoia." this whole thing started as a figment of EBear's imagination, as in last year he calls and says he and some of his homies had volunteered me 'n D to put on a ride up here in the Sierras. and so Oktoberfast was born. last year's gig was a hoot, enough so that we did it again this year, and upped the stakes by diving deeper into the Sierras on our weekend adventure ride. i tried over the past four days to make sure that everyone who attended understood how much i appreciate their participation. it takes a lot of effort to host a gig like this, but it also takes a lot of determination, logistically and financially, to attend one of these deals, and i don't take that for granted. every single member of the Oktoberfast 2004 entourage was a class act, and the "group" nature of the weekend's activites added immensely to the fun. dig this: for two full days we managed to hustle over a dozen sportbikes - thru 350 miles of some of the gnarliest sportbike territory you'll ever encounter - without a shunt any more serious than a parking lot tipover, and for this i'm deeply appreciative to all the participants. thank you for your professionalism and skill. and for your passion, your sense of adventure, and your camaraderie. "all the participants" would be Don "Savage" Sabatino, Travis "TBear" Scott, Eric "EBear" Barrows, Glenn "UniBear" Dolph, Shawn "Sandblast" Trento, Al, Joanne, and Zach Lighton from American Sport Bike, Victor "Viros" Rosales, Tom "Reindog/Forger" and Laurie Reiner, Scott "US Route 66" Page, Mike "Da Bike" Casillas, Dave "Dino" and Char Hoffman, Bruce "RR Eater" Parmenter, and FB&D. a finer group of individuals (with the obvious exception of that Ferris feller...) you'll not likely find. thank you guys and gals - this weekend rocked. it was, truly, suckless. Ferris & Denise, 10/11/2004 ------------------------------------- this is but a portion of the initial beer menu, in keeping - of course - with the Oktoberfest theme. Mmmm. Mmmm. Effin' Good.
