I have a 99 S3T. Besides the obvious cosmetic differences what are the differences between the X1 and an S3? Are there differences in the frame geometry? Rake and trail? That type of thing. Also I want to remove my fairing and headlight and swap it for the large round headlight. Is this something that can be done? Great web site\ clipart{S3} |

It has been done. Repeatedly. I know the frames are different but I'm not sure if they are in the area of steering geometry (I don't think they're different but I'll be wrong). |

The X1 has a bit steeper fork angle but it is very minor. You can bolt up a X1 fairing set-up to your S3 but it will require a complete new dash, new upper triple clamp, fairing, headlight assembly, and fork brackets to support the light and fairing. Its going to be expensive even if bought used. |

hey guys lets go the other way with this. I'm in the process of buying a 1998 X1 drag bike after this season is over and want to make some changes. I'm riding a 1998 S3 and like the body style, can the S3 tail section go on the X1 with some changes? anythings possible right? 2 tubes welded on steering head for fairing mount? tank just needs to be a shell over small aluminum tank. I have some spare S3 body parts but I'm also looking for an S2 front fender, S3fairing and mount and a 97 or98 seat. parts don't need to be perfect but not broken as they will be modified. anybody have any of this for sale to help me get ready for next season? Jack, may have what your looking for this winter if your interested in a trade. thank's for any help or information, Allen |

The stock X-1 neck already had the provision for the S-3 fairing, that is unless someone ground it off. As for the tail section, I would think you could be able to fabricate a rear "frame" section to match up to the X-1 frame, you could possibly make it a bolt on piece that can be removed and go back to the sexy X-1 aluminum sub-frame. You will just need to make good measurements off of your S-3 tail and bend up/weld the needed tubing. Good luck!! |

1998 X1 drag bike You may want to make sure what your're buying, they didn't make the X1 models until model year 1999. 1998 would have been the last year of the S1. |

Thanks Craig, I was thinking the bike was an S1 because it had the small tail section with frame tubing under it but they have told me a couple of times it's an X1. it sure doesn't have the aluminum bolt on tail. thank's |

Duh, I didn't even catch the 1998 part, just saw X-1. Never mind my last post then about making the tail removable.
