I learned on Saturday that even my Saab convertible is no longer made by Saab but some Austrian group that does the new 9-3, CLK Series and some other convertible. That 'some Austrian group' is Steyr-Daimler-Puch-Fahrzeugtechnik who've been on the go for 105 years. You might also be surprised to learn, amongst many other things, Audi TT's are entirely designed and built in Austria. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is also built in Austria, in all configurations, and at the Steyr-Puch factory in Graz. Steyr-Puch are world leaders in 4-wheel drive technology too. They have an outstanding reputation for production capability, vehicle quality design and construction. Amongst other things they have built motorcycles, micro cars, racing cars, trucks, military vehicles and even trains - and like you rightly say Court, the new style Saab 9-3 convertible and the Merc SLK. The new 9-3 Convertible is awesome; a COMPLETELY different car than the "old" 2001". Now I understand why the CLK and 9-3 share a common design element. I hope they are as fun to work on as they are to drive. |

==The only problem is that PT Cruiser is made in Mexico not America!!== And many of the parts on my Harley and all our Buells are made outside of the US. Much as some of us might hate it, there is no true all-American vehicle anymore. I don't consider where the PTC was assembled as a "problem", it's an American design and it uses many parts made in the US. My old Honda Civic was assembled in the US, but I don't think you'll find many people that would slap me on the back for buying that "American" car But I'm not picky anyway, I also have 3 Japanese bikes in the garage. |

I'm not very good at modifying images, but this is an idea I thought about doing to my bike, a White Lightning Racing Stripe. Open to thoughts/comments/ridicule...

Blackbelt, I'm thinking dark blue stripes, even metallic if I can find someone to make decals like that... my header needs recoating so do it a darker blue too... then paint the engine covers black, and may as well do the swingarm black too... carbon tank accents and a black forcewinder or pro-series... that'd do nicely, nice and minimal How I'd pay for all that, I have NO idea , but decals for the stripes would be cheap, and you gotta start somewhere! I must get my act together and ditch that rear guard - that might be a sunday night job. lemonchili (aka gixxer851/aka graham - I had too many logons around the place and was having an identity crisis ) |

I gotta get my digital camera working... I got my Force intake installed, but i am noticing a couple spots where my side covers rubbed through the powdercoating on my X1WL, so i am kinda bummed about that.. but that is an easy fix. Once i get the camera working again i will post pics of the bike... i like it.. |

Cool Looks like I'm going to have to lash out on some tank accents soon... That looks nice. Dark blue headers look better too. Found a company that can make the stripes for me, definitely doing them in blue, just have to pick the colour and work out whether to do the offset stripe like the blue Racing Stripe, or two even stripes like the red ones. Thinking about trying to make my own air cleaner - I can make the backing plate, use a K&N, and get an old Sportster cover and paint it black. Should work ok... Blackbelt - looking forward to the pics when you get your camera working cheers, lemonchiliX1 |

Lemonchili_x1, I haven't seen Scot post for some time, but his site is still up. Click the thumbnail if you would like some ideas. Check the white tail and swingarm -- believe Modesto did it prior to selling it to him.
