A lot of us have swapped the stock lollipop mirrors on our Ulys for aftermarket units. The mirrors for the Aprilia Tuono have been a popular choice. I bought some Chinese knock offs about 10 years ago for $30 or so for a pair. They have been okay, but after only a couple of years, one of the housings cracked off when I hung my mesh jacket on it. I repaired it with plastic epoxy but lost some of the adjustment in the process. Last week, the glass popped out of one of the mirrors as the bike was warming up. The glass only suffered a minor ding, and I reattached it with Gorilla 2-sided mounting tape. Unfortunately, during the trailer trip home, the glass popped out of the other one, never to be seen again. Okay, enough of the cheap knock offs. Tuesday, I ordered a couple of allegedly OEM Aprilia mirrors off of eBay for $40 each. They arrived today and appear significantly better made than the knock offs. The stems are maybe an inch longer, the plastic feels thicker, and the attachment hardware is noticeably heavier duty.
Knock off on the left, OEM on the right.
OEM installed with knock off held in front showing additional stem length. So, if you ever make the upgrade yourself, the genuine Aprilia mirrors are worth the price IMHO. (Message edited by Hughlysses on August 05, 2023) |
