I'm looking at getting a new to me Buell. This, pictures attached, is the one I'm looking at for $3,800. The info is it's an '07 with new belt and updated rear wheel with 38,000 miles. I believe the price is reasonable enough. Is there anything you guys would say would be a red flag that would make you walk away, or RUN.
OH, also, I'm in Virginia and they say it has a California title anything to watch out for with that?? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. |

Long as its a clear title, you should be good. Some (that's *SOME*) '07s had crank bearing issues, but I'd think that by 38k they'd have shown up by now. Maybe post in the Storm Fronts section for the area where the bike lives, and see if someone could put eyes on it for you... I still ride the wheels off my '06 (just turned 40k last month), and still giggle at it at least once a ride! Great bikes. |

no, just give it a good once-over right fork leg would leak first cuz of the braking forces. engine mount rubber eventually cracks. oil leak from the rear rocker box will kill the fan. looks like the turnsignal stalks are drooping but hopefully it has the full 'comfort kit' with the bigger right side scoop |

different folks have different attitudes and risk acceptance levels, but I would not recommend purchasing a uly unless you have a spare of the same year and model as a "parts bike". $3800??? Hell, I wasn't able to get any bites for $3000 on my 2008-XT when I listed it a while back. Have since accepted that I'll do what I can to keep it running and hooligan ride it until it suffers a catastrophic failure. |

Well my '03 XB9SL has an electrical issue that I have resigned myself to needing a new wiring harness. Some time back the battery housing rubbed through the main wiring harness and it's been setting off other issues since. So it's a winter back burner project for now. I REALLY wanted a ULY when they came out and have looked for a while. I have just got some money together and I just might be p!ss!ng it down a hole, however I can't seem to forget the grins from the XB when it was running well. I have tried to love my wife's Sportster however it just AIN'T happening. Sat on a Goldwing and that just didn't seem to fit right. I haven't gotten into the cruiser groove as of yet. I had seen a blue '08 ULY in Pittsburgh off FB however that's a 5+ hour ride and Richmond is only 1 hour. Thanks to everyone for the input. |

My brother and I just got back from Buelltoberfest and beyond. We rode our Uly's the whole way. Roughly 1300 miles. My brother loves the Uly but just isn't into motorcycles like I am. This was his first trip in 2 years! He says he's going to sell it. He put a new rear tire on before the trip and now he's replacing the front. It will also have a new battery. It's an 09 that's in near perfect condition. (He's an anal machinist) If you'd be interested I'll find out what he wants for it. It has the 2010 rear wheel and the XB9 primary gearing. |

Tootal, let me know when you find out. I would feel better about one from someone here. It seems most here would be stand up folks about selling their stuff. I know I wouldn't sell my XB to anyone here with the condition it's in, unless I was completely strapped for money. No, check that, I wouldn't even then. No one needs that headache. |

Here's a couple of pics when we were riding to Sturgis in 2015. The first one is in the middle of South Dakota, his is the blue one:
This one is loading the bikes in the U-Haul after I shattered my heal. You'll notice my brother using cardboard around the wheels to keep the rope from damaging the paint. Yes, he's that anal!

Xbduck, here's the scoop. He bought it in 2013 with 12,800 miles with a broken mirror and scuffed frame puck. It had just fallen over, not a moving crash. So new mirrors and a new frame puck. Then he bought all the bags and framework and installed them. We've taken 3 trips since then but he just doesn't ride it much anymore. He's put 8000 miles on it so it's at 20,800 now. So the rear tire has 1300 miles and he has a new front for it. Michelin Road Pilot 4's I think. It has the 2010 3 bearing wheel and the XB9 primary gearing. He still has the XB12 gearing if you prefer that. It'll have a new battery and fresh oil. He figures he has over $6000.00 in it and will let it go for $5000.00. That seems to be comparable to other Uly's with that low of mileage and it's in near perfect shape. Let me know if interested and I'll PM you his info. |

I’d try to find an ‘08 or later. Much improved motor. |

Thanks Blake, I have been reading posts here with everyone's issues and it was starting to dawn on me that an '08 or later would be a better choice as I look. Well as it turns out the bike in question was being sold to afford a car for the winter. The car dealer was able to get the Uly owner in a car without needing the extra cash from selling the bike. So the deal went under and yet, I am happy to see he is able to keep a bike he truly likes. Tootal let me know your info, I do have to drag my feet just a little right now. Over the weekend my wife didn't notice the BIG YELLOW HOOP at the end of the local gas station island and she "customized" the passenger doors of her 2 Y.O. Subaru. |

Actually he wasn't planning on selling it till Spring figuring that's when folks get the riding bug. When I saw your post I just thought I'd let you know. His is a 2009. I'll PM you his information. |
