I'm thinking of re-powdercoating my X1W frame and was wondering how easy/difficult it would be to get the bike disassembled down to the bare frame and what important steps I should take. Couldn't find any threads on the topic so if anyone knows of any send em over. |

Take your time, photograph stuff, and make notes if you have to and above all remember you have to put it together again........ You can't go wrong |

Taking photographs is good advice. That way you know in what way wires and cables were arranged when you put it back together again. Properly label bolts or put them back in the components they fastened to the frame. And create boxes for stuff that belongs together, but you probably know all that :P. Easiest way to approach the undertaking of removing the frame is by supporting the engine with jacks or those flat engine lifts and then lifting the frame off of it once everything is undone. When I did it, I kept the bike level by inverting the rear foot pegs and using axle stands under them to support the frame. |

Take pictures. Take pictures. TAKE PICTURES. Otherwise, no, just keep unbolting stuff and it'll eventually come off. Make a nice support for the engine and you can leave the engine and swingarm untouched while you lift the frame off of them, and slide it back on when you're done. |

Wow, that's great thanks for the input. Doesn't seem like it's that hard if I can lift the frame up over the engine like that. Just have to remove the forks and fairing. |

Yeah. I saw footage of the original factory line assembling these and they put the frame on top like a hat. |
