Went to look at the bike today with the CFO (wifey). . . This thing is the real deal, looks as good up close as in the pictures. Knowledgeable owner, ('cept unaware of this site). No smoke, no leaks, little seepage, but not serious, "positive engagement" in shifting. Original seat, plus the Corbin, no OEM muffler spare, bags with narrow lids only, support stand and Service Manual. Don't know if OEM, but it has a Performance Machine front brake caliper, with Pegasus logo. Aftermarket? Working through negotiations, both with owner and CFO - - should be good soon. Test ride later this week.

All good advise here, from seasoned Buellers, some more seasoned than others BTW.. Jolly, there is no way from that angle you can tell if the primary chain is too tight.. but are the "dots" lined up? That is the question. In the first picture it CLEARLY looks like the clutch throw out bearing is not properly adjusted to 1/4" turns out & the front tire is 2psi low. WTF..How could you miss that?? Paul, The drive belt is adjusted TOO tight!! (no joke here) Let us know when you enter the S2 Asylum!! There is NO way OUT!! |

I think K12pilot is correct about the low tire pressure. You can tell by the way the bead is not up against the rim tight. I also noticed in the left side picture the valves appear to need adjusted. You might need to get a set of adjustable pushrods to bring the clearances back into spec. Some solid information here on this board for sure..... |

Luckily, the owner topped off the blinker fluid and will provide a few quarts of Buell Racing Turn Signal Fluid so at least we're good there. . . Back on topic, I gauged a bit over 1/2" of flex in the drive belt. . . still not enough? ? ? Think Joe referenced "crazy loose" was the spec on these. . . As I commented in a PM, I would never consider this purchase if not for this website - - appreciate all the insight, and not just for the purchase process. Waiting on response from my offer, fingers crossed... More to follow (hopefully). Paul |

Good luck Paul!! You’ll love the bike!! My first ride on a Buell was a 97S1 First Buell I owned, 99 X1 Then an S1W, then an S3T, then another S1, then an S2, then another S2... then.. My favorite tube frame Buell is an S2!!!.... after the kickstand is fixed.... |

Court said during testing on the S2, they rode the bikes with the adjusters all the way in, as loose as the belt would get and it had no ill effects and didn’t jump teeth. Mine is “extra scary loose” and the belt rubbed a small hole in the lower CF belt guard. So I guess that’s the only consequence I’ve noticed. William |
