So my 2008 1125r revs to 4,000 RPM when I first start it for the day for about 3-5 secs then goes back down to about 1,500 for idle. Does anyone know why it does this? When I start it later in the day (for the second time) it doesn't do it. So I don't know whats up... |

Mine does the same at random intervals, only at a cold start-up. Will idle high for about 20 seconds, then settle down into the normal idle range. I believe the ports used for the Idle Air Controller (IAC), which is part of the throttle body, needs to be cleaned well. I haven't cleaned mine yet so I can't confirm if it's truly the cause, but my poking around here points me to the IAC. Also, perform a throttle body reset just to be safe. I've also heard people getting a carb cleaning to fix the issue too. So maybe the bike just needs a good cleaning |
